Gear choices for COR & RNGFollow

Question for all you COR + RNG's out there.

Recently farmed/scraped together 1.6 million gil and was looking at options to improve my so-so state of gear.

Here are the things I'm missing from AH gear (still working on relic and sky gear, don't really care about salvage gear ATM and will be getting to Nyzul gear sometime when life gets less hectic... yeah right).

In gear slot order:

HF +1 (have NQ HF)
EBow (I know, I'm still short of gil for that, but i could not spend and continue to save up - and keep in mind I'm mostly a marksmanship RNG given capped merits on COR)

PCC (still have specs, but always wanted this item and it's good for other jobs)
Quiqurn collar

Triumph Earrings

Alky Bracelets (have Pallas', won't help RNG and I'm going to be working on CFG soon)

Flame RIng

These are the big ticket items that could improve my gear and for the most part sit in slots that don't have superior Rare/ex gear I could be working towards.

So I'm sort of leaning towards either PCC vs. Alky/Q collar/Flame Ring combo. But any advice is appreciated.

At least this post is better than the "rate my gear posts" of people with every great endgame piece you could wish for lol.

I'd go with the Peacock Charm personally.

Re: Nyzul and Sky gear.

If you're looking to boost both COR and RNG, sky isn't doing a whole ton for you. There's Crimson/Blood Finger Gauntlets as a piece that really helps both jobs. And Crimson Cuisses for the movement speed+, but that's not something you can't get elsewhere for both jobs (Strider/Trotter Boots for RNG, Hermes' Sandals for COR). That's it. It's possible that your time would be better spent elsewhere. And remember, you can always buy an Osode if you want it for your RNG.

Nyzul... Not sure what you wear on RNG, but Denali body and legs are very good pieces for both jobs. Both are THE best Quick Draw item for COR (outside of a QD-focused Mirke Wardecors, which I assume you won't be getting if you like getting items that help both COR and RNG). Both are also good pieces for ranged attacks on either job, though your unknown RNG gear here is relevant (e.g. Relic legs for RNG beat Denali).

I'd personally recommend taking some pick-up runs on Floors 40 and 80 for Denali pieces. It's such a short event that it's easy to fit into a busy schedule. COR is great in there too, especially on boss floors to buff some zerging melees. I static with WHM, COR/DNC, and 4 melees (some combination of 1-2 SAM, DRK, THF, BLU). Works great.

As for the R/E stuff, yeah I vote PCC above the other stuff you mentioned. QQ Collar second place.

I am planning on doing Nyzul esp for the legs. I'm reasonably happy with the mirke for QD even with less AGI than a Denali body.

But CFG are really the big thing I want from sky since most COR and RNG hand options really suck. There's not a lot of competition for wyrmal hands fortunately. So sky is still something I want to work on prior to Nyzul.

And for RNG most of the good endgame gear comes from sky - Suzaku's sune-ate, Seiryu's kote, Kirins Osode are all big pieces. Admittedly that's more of a time committment, but last I checked, the servers weren't closing down anytime soon.

but thanks for the advice so far.

Well I think it boils down to what are you really gonna be playing the most. Yes you can do both but its gonna cost you/take up more time.

I think a Hellfire+1 would be good for your RNG if your gonna stick to Marks over archery. Also I would recommend getting your ACP body and make it Acc+10 Ratt+10. This will make a decent shooting body for RNG and COR and good WS body for COR, possible RNG (not sure if K osode is better for rng or what.)

If you have specs then Id suggest Q collar over PCC. You can get a PCC pretty easily from the BCNM/camping so id get the Q collar first.

Triump Earrings are an excellent choice and would highly recommend them.

Alky brac I wouldnt really worry about for COR. Id take barbrossa or Crimson over them for the racc, unless your confident your gonna be landing det with Alkys.

Overall get the triump earrings first.

I'd go with Hellfire +1 and forget Ebow. Pick up another bow for those times when you really want to use one. Sbow or even something like the Cobra bow.

I used to want a triumph earring or two for ranger. But it is such a small improvement over a Drone I never bothered.

CFG are great for both jobs. Honestly, I'd grab those and not spend any more time in Sky, but that's me.

Mirke can be good for COR or RNG, but not really so much if you compromise and make it for both jobs. For RNG I would go Ratk/Snapshot and for COR I would pick QD/Matk. Personally I'd go with the QD body option and use something else on RNG. I'm happy swapping between AF and Archer's Jupon on RNG.

Peacock charm is great for COR. That would be my choice for your big ticket item. Doesn't do much for RNG though.

Well COR is my main, but I like RNG and will try to use it as something different when COR gets a bit monotonous. I do have an ACP body with RATT/RACC so its certainly no slouch for a body piece for COR or RNG. Big difference over my P.Body.

And why are triumph earrings such an excellent choice? I get that earring choices generally suck for RNG and COR, but all the work I've done on the WS calculator suggests they make a very small difference over Drone.

Admittedly a PCC makes a very small difference over specs, but I can use PCC for other jobs, capped events etc where they are very powerful.

Fair enough, even though I wouldn't consider Nyzul such a time commitment that you'd have to choose either/or Sky or Nyzul. You can make Sky your priority and still do a couple random runs of Nyzul a week, just whenever you have a free hour. See someone shouting for floor 40 and have an hour to spare? Go along for two runs.

As for hand options... I personally own Barbarossa's Moufles, so I'm less excited about investing the time in sky for the better (but not a TON better, +7 R.Acc/R.Atk as opposed to +10) CFG. If I really wanted CFG, I'd feel my time is better spent farming for some extra gil and paying some LS for them.

Another idea that popped into my head today...

Do you have all of the Gobbiebag upgrades? I'm lacking the two final ones, and if I had some surplus gil right now that's what I'd probably buy. COR especially is such a gear-hog. Even though I have a Mog Satchel, I still have space issues because I want to keep my gear for PUP and COR (my two real "mains") on me between the two.

Right now I feel my mog satchel has handled all my space needs for the time being.

Admittedly Nyzul doesn't take much time but I find alot of pickup groups want experienced Nyzul people only. So its not as easy as setting aside an hour to do it. Whereas Sky occurs regularly in my LS so I know when to set aside RL time to get involved.

I also thought about using the money to buy a wyrmal abjuration from another LS, but I would rather earn them with my sky group.

For those ppl that want to get the right amount of AGL for their Slug's or Dets, 30% AGL adds to WSC, WSC is bonus Base dmg on the ws. STR is obviously a lot better, becasue you only need 2STR to raise fSTR2 by 1. But its still good to know which AGL totals will give you extra BD when gearing up for those ws's.

70AGL = 17WSC
71AGL = 17WSC
72AGL = 17WSC
73AGL = 18WSC
74AGL = 18WSC
75AGL = 18WSC
76AGL = 18WSC
77AGL = 19WSC
78WSC = 19WSC
79AGL = 19WSC
80AGL = 19WSC
81AGL = 20WSC
82AGL = 20WSC
83AGL = 20WSC
84AGL = 20WSC
85AGL = 21WSC
86AGL = 21WSC
87AGL = 21WSC
88AGL = 21WSC
89AGL = 22WSC
90AGL = 22WSC
91AGL = 22WSC
92AGL = 22WSC
93AGL = 23WSC
94AGL = 23WSC
95AGL = 23WSC
96AGL = 23WSC
97AGL = 24WSC
98AGL = 24WSC
99AFL = 24WSC
100AGL = 24WSC
101AGL = 25WSC

2STR raises dmg the same was 4AGL does.

This has been my impression working with the WS calculator spreadsheet. Its very much a 2:1 thing 1 STR ~ 2 AGI or 2 RATT at normal level 80 mob levels.

That's why I'm not so keen to chase after Triumph earrings. Drone is so close as to make it a ridiculous expenditure of money.

Doesn't AGI help with RACC WS% too? I'm seriously uncertain of this as I'm not at the level of meat yet. I use Drone for my earrings.
