The Quest for Rabit PieFollow

Well after reading Carrs thread Here about different food and such, this peaked my interest. This food is 150k a stack on my server.

Quote:
Rabbit Pie - STR +5, VIT +5, INT -2, +25% Att (caps @ +100 Att), +25% Raat (caps @ +100 Raat), +25% DEF (caps @ +100 DEF) - Duration: 30 min; Stackable: 12

Rabbit Pie is a very impressive food, as the % increases are greater than the above, but the cap is 50 points lower. Depending on the situation, this may be as good or better, but exspense is still an issue; a stack will likely set you back 150k or so.

So I set about looking for the ingredients and geared up my 71 THF with TH3. First on the list was Lynx meat. While the drop rate is low its not so low to make you wanna shoot your self. With in an hour or 2 I had 8 meats and about 15 hides (hides are about 2k on AH or 700ish to npc). For future reference a good spot to farm the lynxs are in Sauro Champ (s) on the left side of the map near the zone towards Merph MTNS. Theres about 15 that spawn in a ncie spot right there aggro free. Meat goes for about 10-15k on AH so its not to bad.

Now I since I had gotten my meat it was time for the dreaded Mushroom. I knew these mushrooms where gonna be bad, but I had underestimated how bad. I spent 11 hours, yes 11 hours farming with TH 3 in Grauberg (s) north of the campaign fort. Wiki shows these to be having a higher drop rate and they con EP to a 71 THF. In the first 4 hours, I got 1 Mushroom. 1 mother @#%^in mushroom.

At this point I was bet fed up so I went and helped with Savage Blade NM for 3 hours. After the Nm I had a friend on PLD come back out to help me kill, after 3 more hours I got a second Mushroom. At about this point 6 other people from my ls who were wanting skill ups and to ahng showed up and we proceeded to rape every brasscap in the zone for 4 hours. With in the 4 hours i picked up 5 more mushrooms for a grand total of 7 mushrooms in 11 hours with TH3.

For my 11 hours farming I got the following, this is only on brasscaps:

1 stack of woozyshrooms (1k on AH for a stack)
5 dance shrooms (1k on AH a peice)
3 stacks of dark crystals (1.3k a stack on AH)
10k exp with ann band on.
7 mushrooms (mushrooms are 13k a peice on AH so 91k total for 7)

I am now in route to grab the rest of my ingredients from vendors and to get this crafted. I will let you know how this food turns out when I Merit next.

I recently went about farming Lynx meat for that WoG mission, and also found out how bad the drop rate is, lol. Saur [S] isn't as good as Meri [S] though, I believe I saw Meri's as roughly twice as high, but the War Lynx's can be mean to a single player (para, petrification, etc).. So yeah, solo it's probably best to keep trying with the horrible drop rate of Sauromugue Champaign [S].

Seems like the Agaricus are even worse...

Looks like a typical situation where you're best off doing whatever makes the most gil, instead of targetting the desired items' ingredients. Hope you get some pies out of all that work, though =p

Least farming lower level Lynx you can make a decent amount of gil on the side with the hides, and you can kill quicker, also nto sure about the grouping in mountains but Sauro has a lot reall clsoe ot each other.

The worst part is the Mushrooms though for sure. Looking for a level 100 crafter now.

Wiki says the Mushrooms are a 7% drop rate from the caps you were fighting, but it also says you can steal them in a certain order after they use 'shroom moves. If you go about farming them again, you may be able to double what you got through theft as well.

Eh I'm in need of gil for my recent Clothcraft addiction and I like [S] zones, so I'll go give it a try and see if my luck's any better.

Edit - So I've farmed a ton of them now (THF/DNC, TH3), with only 3 Agaricus Mushrooms to show for it (1 drop, 2 stolen). There's a reason why these things are like 15k a pop, lol.

The "-shroom" attacks are used in the following order: Queasyshroom, Numbshroom, Shakeshroom. Each attack will consume one mushroom on the funguar's cap. There are three total. A successful steal may remove 1 mushroom from the funguar's cap and possibly change the order of "-shroom" attacks.

I remember stealing one after Numbshroom, and thought that was it, until I also stole after, I believe, Dark Spore. But yeah, after Queasyshroom, look to steal after Numbshroom. Also, I've heard of being able to steal Agaricus after 3 attempts (no matter the TP moves used?).

Either way, it's clear to me the focus is on stealing them, not getting them to drop.. Good catch by Mjrna :P

Problem is Ive stoled after all the TP moves except Shake shroom and not seen a agaricus mushroom. Those 3 mushrooms on its head are linked to the 3 mushrooms it can have. We should try testing letting it use all but 2 of them and try and steal the 3rd, to see if that will increase the steal rate.

Mushrooms have terrible drop rates even if farmed as THF. I used to level my NPC with the mushrooms. Typically I see one mushroom every time I took my personal Tarutaru out (so around ~3-5% drop rates with TH4). As far actually making them, I find them have a relatively high HQ rate compare to other 80-100 level cooking recipes.

I'm thinking"why waste these on birds?"
Rabbit Pie, Curry, etc are really for events where a) you don't plan on dieing alot and b) you'll need to be shooting and c) have acceptable RACC.

The ACP final fight is an excellent example. Not that hard to hit the boss, you are standing at ranged distance and the damage boost to the Detonators and regular shots helps kill the mob and the doppelgangers in an acceptable time frame.

But bird camps I'd suggest a cheap meat like sausage or blackened frog. It will boost your detonators and if it gets stolen, who cares. I'd say save the Rabbit pie for mamools but you're better off with sole sushi there since the mobs are pretty evasive and just for TP'ing with joyeuse alone, you'll need some ACC.

My food choices are:
Birds: sausages, blackened frog or squid sushi
Pulling /NIN: squid sushi
Mamool: Sole sushi

For events it really depends on what I'm doing from MP+ food to squid to RATT food.

Eh normally I wouldnt use these on Birds but since I purposelessly farmed them to test them out. I know what these are ideal for but, most people dont look at any other food out side of sushi ever.

Most people don't look at food at all with Colibri. Tough to get melee to even eat cheap mithkabobs.

But the reason for sushi and COR is our B- SWD rating. Even with merits and an ACC setup with suppa, its tough to get acceptable TP rate without sushi esp if subbing something other than RNG.

Thank you for being willing to waste money testing an expensive food on birds. I'd rather have seen a test on mamools especially a melee acc parse with it. But info is always appreciated.
