Bastok Mission 9-1 (Slimes)Follow

I've been in the process of running my second character through Bastok missions for the free easy money, and last night got to mission 9-1 with a couple friends. That is the one where you fight the slime in Gustav Tunnel that keeps dividing into multiple little slimes when you kill the bigger forms. My party setup was:

COR/RDM (me)
PLD (died on pull and stayed dead the whole fight)
RDM (also died on pull and was dead for 80% of the fight)

I was handling sleeping of the slimes with Light Shot while the BLM nuked and rested. The SMN carby pulled some of the slimes.

In any case, when we got down to the last two mini slimes, just for fun I decided to use a damaging QD shot. I chose earth shot. My QD setup is okay, but nothing amazing:

Joyeuse (forgot staff)
Martial gun
Steel bullets
AF Hat
PCC (yeah yeah I know, useless for QD)
Drone earring
Moldavite earring
Mirke with QD stats
Relic hands
Emerald ring x2
Nomad's mantle
Scouter's rope
Denali kecks
Denali boots

I had Wizard's roll on me, though I don't remember what value. It was Firesday.

Earth shot did 681 damage.


Wtf? Do these things take extra magic damage or something? I know that the smaller forms are supposed to be less resistant to magic damage, but nowhere have I seen anything say they actually take extra damage.

In any case, somebody with slightly better gear (Novio or Ugg pendant or elemental staff) or a slightly better Wizard's roll could easily one-shot tge smallest slimes in this mission with QD. My earth shot left the mob at about 3% hp.
