Merit PTs; shoot or melee?Follow

Excuse my ignorance, but I'm currently setting up my subs for a run to COR 75 after my classes finish this semester.

I was curious about one thing though. I really like shooting and prefer that over melee any day. I've seen CORs at 75 using melee to TP though instead of shooting, and I was curious which is more effective at 75, shooting or meleeing for TP?

I'd rather shoot, so I was hoping that would remain a viable option at 75.

Thanks for the help!

There are more details in the thread, but as you can see, the discussion has many different opinions and details supporting said opinions. It would really just save everyone time and effort from copypastaing anymore if you simply read the other thread. XD;; perchaps contribute something if you have a specific question over there as well to help keep the discussion rolling? o.o

Thanks for the pointer. Totally missed that thread, what can I say... happens when you browse forums.

The thread does cover exactly what I'm interested in, sadly can't really contribute till I actually get some experience with COR. Maybe in due time.

If you weren't an ass you might recognize that the thread you link has a horrible title that makes it sound much more like a gear thread than a "melee vs. shoot for TP" thread.

DD setups? implies a question related to gear, yes, but within that implication it also has no specification as to what TYPE of DD. we can melee for tp, or shoot for TP as is fairly common knowledge. A pinch of assumption and a grain of salt and you can easily deduce that the DD Setups? thread probably has a discussion in it related to how to, well. DD. >.>

because arguing on the internetz is win

In answer to your question, I think you'll find it a more viable solution to melee for TP after a certain point.

I started to melee for TP after spending 200k on bullets alone going from level 67-68.

After awhile the ratio of the cost per level to shoot for TP got completely out of whack once I switched to Steel Bullets, not to mention that the amount of exp needed to level keeps going up and up and up...

You'll mostly see COR's melee for TP at higher levels anyways, most of the advice you'll see here is having a TP gear setup and a WS gear setup... with the TP gear setup for melee with a multi-hit weapon, and a WS gear setup focusing on STR and AGI, a Martial Gun, with some R.ACC and R.ATTK thrown in for good measure.

I hope this helps.

Shoot, mostly because you are pulling XD.

No seriously, it seems to be pretty rare for me at least to find a party where I can actually sub /rng and go to town. Most of the time people want ghetto bards.

I do the iron/steel for ws usually when I shoot for TP. I have no multi-hit weapon, and steel bullets are too pricey for extended use. Also shooting for tp lets me simplfy my gear and let me mog house my meelee setup.

It still contributes pretty good damage. It isn't the best, but most of the options available are kind of meh in terms of time. i can probably cap my merits on cor before I'd be able to convince people to camp a joyeuse with me, or buy a merc kris, or even get a decent haste build to make single hit weapons worth it.
