Today I got lucky with some Dynamis - Tavanazia demon.

"You found a Commodore Tricorne"...

I am well aware how does it effects rolls with bonuses without the job in PT. I am just checking is it fine to macro into the rolling macro. Like on the same macro:

/ja "Evoker Roll" <me>
/equip head "Commodore Tricorne"

I know this type of macroing is ok for at least some other jobs' JA that I have played (like Dancer), and I just want to make sure it works with COR as well.

Sorry if this is a stupid question Smiley: frown I am really tired after too much FFXI today.

I do

/equip head "Commodore Tricorne"
/ja "<insert roll>" <me>

I always thought that you equip the gear/s first before you do any /mas /jas or /ws's.

yeah, definitely put the hat on before you roll or you won't get the bonus. I don't have this hat due to not doing dynamis but I *believe* you don't need to use it on double-up? Or is that incorrect? Someone clarify :P

JAs are instant as far as the game is concerned, so you need gear equipped *before* the JA goes off to gain it's benefit. If you're lagging, you may even want to put a /wait 1 or <stpc> between the /equip and the /ja.

Actually as Amanda alluded, before they added the <stpt> function, it was common in the DNC community to set up a curing waltz macro that looked like this:

/ja "Curing Waltz IV" <stnpc>
/equip body "Dancer's Casaque"

You would activate the macro, select your target, then your gear would swap and the waltz would go off, giving the the bonus from the gear. If you did the macro the other way around, there was a very good possibility of the gear swap screwing up your targeting, causing you to have to re-hit the macro.

I don't know if it would still work with the tricorne though, because you don't use <st..>. It should be pretty easy to test with Chaos Roll though.

Evoker's would be the easiest way to test.

And no TDGSW, Commodore Tricorne is not needed on Double-Ups. Use it and lose it!

By the way, anyone know what to do if you're getting "Internal Service Error" when trying to get on ffxi.alla? I'm on here via zam.com right now, lol. Every allakhazam site works for me except FFXI.. I actually like this dark background, but I'm just wondering what's wrong.. When trying to access an XI player's page, I get "The XML page cannot be displayed."

I guess I will try out tonight when I get home from work :3. Anyway, finally gotten some love from Dynamis lately x_X, and I also netted a BRD AF2-1 legs on open lot. Now just need to Dancer Legs that my Northland AFs are all done :P (well except BLM which I rarely play nowadays)

I recently got my Commodore Tricorne, so I figured I should finally test this.

I used:

/ja "Evoker's Roll" <me>
/equip head "Commodore Tricorne"

It took quite a few attempts, but I finally got the bonus. 3 MP/tick when it is normally 2 on VI.. So it does work. Not sure about a high-lag situation, but there ya go.

if the JA is instant that *shouldn't* work, maybe test it to make sure its activating ~33% of the time and it wasn't just some lag/glitch that made it work that once?

Why not just reverse it and put a wait 1 in there.
That way you can always be sure you would potentially have access to the bonus.

Did you make sure you took off the hat before each attempt?

I can't see how equipping an item after the ja goes off would work. It works for things like magic because of casting times. instant ja's don't make sense to equip after. But I could be wrong, since i haven't tested this myself.

I'm weird and have like a wait 8 between rolling and gear swapping. Why? Cause I like the pretty animation and I like to see what numbers I roll in the animation rather than in chat log...

You're just wasting time in non-dd gear by doing that...

Anyway, equip hat, then JA on the next line. You don't need a wait with windower macros. Not sure about game macros though, maybe /wait 1.

Of course, Walahra Turban -> Commodore Tricorne.

Personally I don't really see why you'd put the equip change before the PR, but the question was asked so I tested. If you don't believe it, test it yourself =p

And no, you don't need any /wait command with normal game macros. I simply equip the hat on line one, with the PR on line two, and my echo on line 3.

I may test to see if not having the hat on during the initial roll, but using it on Double-Ups can still grant the bonus, just to gain a complete understanding of the Phantom Roll augment.
