Hello,
I was curious what you guys put your Amber and Azure lights at when CW farming for KI's.

I've been recently soloing Empy items from NMs and was wondering if I could better my chances of getting KI's more often.

Thanks.

I haven't exactly been CW burning but Aolian Edge burning, but same principle. I've tried with 128 amber (that's when start getting mostly big chests), 150-160 amber (friend said that that's the prime "zone" for KIs), 200 amber and capped amber. It seems to me that the KIs are fixed percentage of the big chests no matter how much amber you have.

As the type of chests is proportional to your lights (for the most part anyways, for some reason red chests show up by the dozen even with no ruby >.>), it's good to keep azure only at 128 to get TEs but still have majority of chests be gold. If you can keep up the time with that. I've had a few runs where had to cap azure to be able to keep going, when out of an hour (pulling mobs as fast as they popped, about 20-25 mobs per pull, so probably a good 200 mobs) got only one TE. I'd like to think that was just colossally bad luck. :P

I hate the fact that it takes longer to cap lights than it does to burn things down. I usually cap pearl > azure > amber. Pearl most realiably comes from NMS (mostly VNMs) Azure you get from burning things down which on BLU is easy. You can get enhanced amber from ephemeral mobs which for the most part spawn every 5mins or so in each group of mobs. And yeh I just say cap all the lights. If you have the abyssites of kismet then you can cap sooner.

The amount of lights required to reach 99% tier-5 chests (you have around a 1% chance to get a tier-1 chest no matter what your lights are) varies depending on how many abyssites the person with the killing blow has. For instance, kismet abyssites increase "fortune" with blue chests, and having all 3 of these makes it so you only need half of the capped amount of azure (128) to see almost all tier-5 chests. In Heroes zones, the dominion status in the zone can increase this "fortune" further, making it so you need even less than 128.

In general, assuming you have all 3 kismets, there's usually no need to go over 128 azure unless azure is ALL you want.

Actually, enhanced amber comes from the roaming "avatar" mobs. Enhanced ruby comes from eph limules and amoebas; enhanced azure comes from eph clionids and murex. You can still get 16 ruby/azure/amber from any of these, but the possibility of 32, 64, or 128 only comes from the proper types.

Note that a few zones have some mobs that give double of certain lights (16 instead of 8). The treants in Konschtat and Attohwa are a couple of examples of double amber.

^this is why when farming tarutaru sash, I would leave pc on and me in abyssea, so when I afk for 8 hours to sleep, I could keep farming w/out having to build up lights again.

I can see the annoyance of pearl on a job where you're tempted to annihilate everything with spells, but it's really not that bad. Either use the spells to knock stuff to low HP for the melee kill, or grab a T1 abyssite and kill some VNMs (not recommended for Heroes zones, obviously)

If you have all 3 fortune abyssites, you don't even need that much pearl, either.

Hi everyone,
I'm a usually full-time Bst however having seen a Blu in action a while back I thought I'd give it a try & have become hooked now & am at 91 with the intention of taking it all the way.
So, as a Bst setting lights is like farting against thunder, can you tell me what spells as a Blu you use & maybe the best way to do it please ?
I note many of you mention about roaming avatars, ephemerals etc, lets assume I just want to have feet chests/te's, what would you advise I set ?
Many thanks,
Jon

If going strictly for KIs, it's always better to have more amber. There is no way to adjust what you get in the big gold boxes, all you can do is maximize the ratio at which gold boxes appear over the other types.

Obviously, as BLU though, azure is going to cap eventually anyway unless you can either target a mob that doesn't give azure (which not all zones even have) or consistently 1-shot any of the mobs you target without claiming them (mobs that have never been claimed will not give any lights)

Oh hey, this is an old thread. Well, whatever.
