I've not found any other threads on Final Sting and how exactly it works other than ffxi encyclopedia where it says based on target HP and your HP. So being curious, heres what I have found:
1. Has properties of both physical and magical blue magic. You can skillchain with CA, but resist rates on damage are light based. (on darksday resists were at max everytime I cast). Also your melee acc has nothing to do with the spell landing (you can equip a staff and it will still land everytime).
2. You can cap the damage potential on a particular mob if your current HP > 1/2 mobs max hp. On mobs with roughly 6200 HP, damage was caping at 3457, on mobs with roughly 6000hp, the damage capped at 3087. And as long as my hps were over half of mobs, I hit for full. If it dropped below at all the damage dropped off. I'm having trouble coming up with a mathmathical expression for this.
3.CA/Efflux/Azure Lore do not affect damage....its possible more TP adds magic acc.
4.Breath +% doesnt affect.
5.The lower the mob level the higher the cap damage (does a max of 65% damage to anything too weak, dc). The cap on high dc, EM mobs was 50%.
6.Resists and max % damage drop way off after EM.
Very interesting spell (the mechanics anyways).
