Atma for BLUsFollow

So when you're on BLU in Abyssea, which Atmas do you like to utilize?

I'm about to bring my BLU in its first exp party ever since getting a ton of good atma. Thinking VV + a refresh atma would work out just fine. Or would forgetting about the refresh and using both VV + Stout Arm work? I know there's a cap on how much STR can do for you, so I'm wondering if something like the 2nd combo would be overkill? I'm still working on Razed Ruins, but that wouldn't do much for our spells that don't crit/ have DEX mods. Would do wonders for Vorpal Blade though.

Just looking for some opinions.

I've been running Voracious Violet and Minikin Monstrosity for a bit now, and unless you're doing something really specific I'd say that's probably your best bet. Minikin is amazing at keeping your MP up regardless of how spammy you get, on top of having 50 intelligence which is pretty awesome for Sanguine Blade. The enmity down is a bit of a bummer, but I figure I can just cast a few more spells and have the same hate I would've anyway. Voracious Violet is end-all be-all for strength right now, and you get free TP from the regain so even if you're not engaged you'll get some fuel for your Chain Affinity'd spells.

As for Razed Ruins, if you're doing something and you're subbing Thief for it, it probably wins over one or the other. A flat 30% bonus to your damage is a huge boost. I don't see much use for it on Blue Mage otherwise, though.

i do minkin and heavens(windurst) for 15mp/tic refresh. i am very spammy. VERY SPAMMY. as in you will probably see me casting for pretty much the whole fight and by the time i run to next worm, i have most of the mp back. i also use stout arm and minkin and that made all of my spells do avg 200 more than normal. depends on party. if you have a ****** pt and you are casting more spells per mob, more refresh. if you have a good party and only casting 2 or 3 spells, id go for more str.

i was thinking about razed ruins last night too, and since none of our stuff actually crits i dont think it would be helpful at all.

I am amazed at the lack of love for +30% crits +30% crit damage and +50dex for a melee job. I understand most of the damage we do comes from spells but still.

Does anyone have any kind of RAW parse, no Abyssea crap, of damage dealt in a long party? I'd like to know the Spell vs Melee ratio. I know spells win, but by enough to negate the most OP Atma in the game? I'd love to see a comparison.

I have several parses and it really depends what buffs you are getting for determining split.

When I was 75 and doing merits with typical melee buffs (marchs, chaos roll, ect), it ran 45melee/55spell.

When I did blue burns (ballads and evokers), it was 25melee/75spell (sometimes 20/80).

If you have +15 refresh in abyssea with Atmas and battery charge, autorefresh, ect, 10/90 isnt a stretch.

Unfortunately I rarely get to blast a mob into oblivion in Abyssea, as we are typically trying for !! procs. Kind of sad really that we cant DD to our full potential.

Also do VV/MM for now. If we get a third lunar, I'll probably add RR to help our melee side unless some other magically inclined Atma shows up. Ideally, I'll also have CDC soon, which will put a serious skew back toward melee to offset MM's Refresh value and a slightly diminished spell potency/library since I'm often the grellow ***** on NMs, too.

Im still collecting atma every weekend but atm only good ones i have to use on blu is stout arm and hero's. 200 dmg crits are very common and happen often I cant wait to get RR to see how it is but i refuse to believe there is a down side. spell dmg wont suffer at all as long as you have SA or VV to accopany it. high melee dmg is never a bad thing ever, wouldnt a need to spam spells if you doing 300+ damage per attack round. Its not uncommon at all for all melee hits to do 150+ dmg with that much str.

just my opinion though I cant wait to see for myself soon.
