Big update here, My linkshell started farming sea and i came BLU mage to it.

Temporal shift- 1/1 got this while waiting for people to come
Reactor cool- 1/6 (AF gloves) This one was bad for some reason
Vertical cleave- 1/1 looks pretty cool when a flower uses it
Disseverment- Yes the best tp burn spell BLU can get is mine^^ 1/1 but the dagger aerns did not like using it, fought 9+ without one disseverment.
Acintic burst- 1/20+ They spam it... must be bad luck i guess
Cannonball- 1/1 in halvung they spam this to. (Record 70BLU SACA 1302 on sheep in antlions clothes ENM)

Didnt get to fight any phaubo for plasma charge, dont have firespit either but ill get that in merit parties. But yeah nicest if you need spells ill be glad to come help

hi! hoping to get a few words of advice...

my blu is only 7 and my blue magic skill is about half of what it should be. i've solo'd to this point mostly on easy prey or decent challenge. learning spells, however, has completely frustrated me.

i have no idea when i learned foot kick, as it didn't show in the log (but i was at least around 1/8 when i noticed it in my spell list). i got pollen at around 1/20. those are the only spells i've learned.

i'm at about 0/10 on cocoon (all decent challenge crawlers), 0/7 on metallic body (easy prey crabs).

i had hoped that blu could be that job i treat as the occasional fun thing to do, take it out, solo for a while, learn a spell here and there. so far, it's been more fun banging my head into the keyboard. >.<

i realize i'm still very early into the blu path, but it feels like my bad luck in learning spells is more than just "bad luck".

should i get my blu magic skill capped before i try learning any more spells? should i only fight decents? even matches? should i wait until lvl 10 and then start trying to learn spells? should i try for all the spells in one level range (foot kick, pollen, sandspin) before trying for the next set?

i'm mostly lvl'ing this to be a rdm sub, but since it has decent solo capabilities, i wouldn't mind taking this higher also. but as it stands, it just hurts to level it up.

any thoughts?

I think you should read my original post again. I covered a lot of your questions in that post alone.

I don't think I put whether the level of the mob mattered, but as Feyd mentioned, it doesn't matter. First and foremost though, you need to cap your Blu magic skill.

Also, you can also look and see, what level I was when I learned the spell myself.

Besides, the thread is still incomplete. I havn't learned all my spells yet. I'm not worried about it until that point. The process has slowed down due to IRL stuff (moving, waiting for house and all). Plus, leveling Drg with Blu at the same time now, cutting down on xp/login.

after about 12 hours and 42 dhalmels, i've finally learned healing breeze as 15 BLU. Trying to learn bludgeon, got owned by 4 of swords/cups/batons (links... a LOT)... Should i stick to the 2's and 3's to learn it?

I thought learning pollen was bad. Took me about 3 separate occasions trying for it to finally learn. Metallic Body took me a lot of kills but only 2 separate occasions and I was getting decent xp while trying to learn it. Knight's Well has plenty of crabs to whack on if anyone is having trouble with Metallic Body.

But Blastbomb....it's driving me nuts! I'm currently lv16 blu with my blu skill 1-2 levels under capped. Been trying on my own in my down time trying to get Blastbomb in Ghelsba Outpost. Usually no one on my LS when I'm doing blu so heading to Fort Ghelsba is probably out of the question. Thing is, I think there's about 3-4 total spawn points for the warmachines I've been hunting. 1 in the first area where people log, 1 near the BCNM hut, and 1 or 2 in the next area.

I usually end up dia pulling, and getting them to a sliver of hp and let them do 2 or 3 tp moves. Most of the time it's the fire ones (fireblast and the flaming arrow one?), or flood, or burst, and maybe once in awhile blastbomb. Do the warmachines deeper in use Blastbomb more or out in Lufaise? Any tips or anything for this one? Thanks in advance!

I have all the BLU spells available up to Level 20, apart from Sheep Song.

Hardest one for me to acquire was Cocoon. I must have seen it used about 20-30 times. Was getting sick of the sight of crawlers! Finally learned it from an EP in Tahrongi at Level 17.

Definitely helps to have Blue Magic capped. I noticed a much quicker learn rate when I started to keep it regularly capped.

You can only learn Tail slap off merrows, Hysterica barrage off lamia, Diamondhide off the heavily armored trolls, evervation off the light armored trolls, warm-up off melee mamool, fire spit off mage mamool.

I'm about to go spell hunting again really soon myself. I paused once again to hunt down Assault Jerkin. Now that my Drg is about to hit level 70, once it does, I'm switching back to Blu, to take it to 70 as well. So, I'll be updating my spell hunting experiences really soon. Most likely within the next week or so. I can't wait, I miss playing so much, ^^.

Congratulations Nicest! Thank you for the tips on where best to obtain these Mamool and Lamia/Merrow abils. As a 67 BLU myself I will be hunting these in the coming days and I hope its as smooth for me as it was for you lol. I still need Memento Mori, Body Slam, Spinal Cleave and Voracious Trunk (people who help me get abils wont go near the Marids to help, fearful of the Chigoes).

Cool, cool, lots of walking for this one, but, very smooth overall. I had a lvl 75Rdm with (Hanyoko) who made everything easy as crap for both spells (also had a lvl 70 Blu with me, just helping out, didn't need either spell).

Cannonball - As always, trying to target the lowest level I can to make things easier. We head to Halvung via a entrance from Mount Zhayolm. Use the same entrance to Halvung as you did when heading for the NM Flan BCNM for your AF. There is one Wamoura right at the entrance. Then, there's another one right at the exit back into Mount Zhayolm just across the way. Basically, the Rdm chain nuked it (not chainspell) to around 40-50%. Then, we all melee it until it uses Cannonball. I basically just helped by spamming stuns, and healing the Rdm when needed. During the meleeing parts, I equipped Foot Kick and Power Attack, to spam for TP feeding. That worked out very well. The Rdm spammed Dia over and over. Both camps are right near a zone if anything should happen to go wrong.

Amplification - This (to me) was easier than getting Cannonball. These are Blm type mobs. I don't remember if they could be silenced or not. I think a Rdm main can silence it, but, I failed to pay attention, because the fights just weren't as hard as we had assumed they were going to be. ANY big spell he tried to cast, was stunned by me or the other Blu. I had Head Butt, Frypan, and Blitzrahl equipped, just in case. I can only remember one instance, where, I needed to use Head Butt and Frypan. As for the location, going to try and GUESS based off of my memory, so, don't get mad at me if I'm a little off. (H-9) has two near the gate, and (G-10) has two more near that gate as well. There's probably more around, but, I learned mine before we needed to move anymore. You can safely camp, right at the gates.

Tip for Spinal Cleave:

Camp at E-10 on the map with the Illrusi staging point. There is a cave where you can safely camp and out of aggro range. There are about 3 or so qutrub and a lamia smn near this spot. I easily trio'd them with a 75 thf/nin and a 75 rdm/whm. Depending on your level headbutt may not be a reliable stunning ability, so make sure to set Jettura, because the blm ones can cast -ga IIIs and sleepga II. The qutrub in this area are ~DC to a level 75.
