When/How did you learn that spell?.....Follow

came back to pso'xja after going out for abit, got filamented hold on first mob -.-;. I was running to fei yin to kill golems for ice break, saw a golem in beaucidine used ice break... 1/1 <.<;

I got lucky today :D I'm a level 56 BLU

I am going with a CHR (+20) build to learn spells. I went to Oldton Movalpolus as a BLU/WHM. I didn't learn Flying Hip Press with my CHR gear off on the first Bugbear. I swiched to it and learned it on the following one.

Next, I went to Tavzania Safehold to learn Frightful Roar. I switched to BLU/NIN . On the way, I saw a RDM farming feathers. He let me join, and I learned it on the first sighting with full CHR gear :D

I hooked up with another BLU who I asked if he wanted to join me. He learned Frightful Roar on the first mob :/ He has a normal BLU/NIN build with Rajas ring. We fought 2 more and no witnessing of the move. 3rd mob, I learned it :D

Next we went to Riverne Site B. I hooked up with a friend who's LS was farming feathers. RDM/WHM made it so easy >.>; We got Jettaru 1 after the other after farming for 1 hour :p

{Congratulations!}x3. Man, all you guys are learning quick as lightning these days (lol, remember the old days when we all were lower levels, :P, learning took forever).

Anyway, what time would it be Death? I'll be on from around 6pm-til whenever EST. I can get on by 5:30pm EST if need be. I'll just have to come straight home and log in right away. I already have my codex as well. I'll be on the forums checking until I get off work 4:20pm EST. If I don't hear anything prior, send me a /tell in-game. If I don't hear anything, I'll probably be out spell hunting (if I get bored), or most likely xping (I HAVE to get out of this brigandine). I think that is such an ugly piece of armor to wear, ;;. Level 57 here I come!

Does Healing Breeze scale up as you go up in level? What's the maximum it can heal?

hmm not sure if this has been answered before but whats stronger? filamented hold or rdm slow, same for sandspin vs blind?

Today 56 BLU/NIN with my CHR gear again :3

Eyes on Me 1/1 in Xarcabard (This spell hurts a lot. Did 300 damage to me)
Ice Break 0/0 in Beaudicine Glacier (._. do they even do the move?)
Hecatomb Wave 1/2 in Xarcabard (I fought the demons near the Ulegreund Range zone)
Dimensional Death 1/4 in Fei'Yin (Fought the first set of Fomors, pretty easy spell to learn since they use the move a lot).

Bad Breath 1/12 in Rolanberry fields (I changed to a partial MND gear at this point, it was hard to get the spell but there are a lot of very easy to kill Ochu. Nevertheless, these things hit me for 40-60 with no food and with Cocoon off)

Stinking Gas 1/1 in Garlaige Citadel (I saw a group doing Explosures for Genkai 1. I joined them and head butted a Self-Destruct n.n. They got the drop immediately, I think they were trying for past hour. We went to kill the nearby Doomed and got the spell just at 1% health >.< They almost killed it too fast)

I didn't get to play as much as I would've liked this weekend, so, not much to report/update. I'm currently 0/5 on Magic Fruit, and I logged out right where I'm farming. I hope Light of Penance & Flying Hip Press go smoothly for me. I'm also thinking of farming the lvl 60 spells as well.

Oh yeah, another good spell hunting trip for me, ^^......

Magic Fruit - As I said, I logged out here, so, I just picked up where I left off. What do you know, appearing right in front of me, was an Opo-Opo, ^^. Didn't learn, -_-, but, I did learn on the next one right after, ^^. So, off to a good start so far. I'm in the jungles already, so, no need to leave. I waltz on over to Yhoater while I'm out here.....

Light of Penance - After arriving, I ran in the direction of the Temple. Well, I checked a few Tonberries on my way there, and they didn't seem like they'd be that bad. So, instead of going all the way to the temple, I decided to mess around with some in these tunnels I kept running through. Woot, in and out deal, 1/1. I was like, uhhhhh, okay, thanks, ^^. It's been about 25min since I've been on the game now. What should I do?....

Flying Hip Press - Back in Al Zhabi now, I'm shouting for Teleport-Dem. I see a whm actually casting it while I'm shouting it, and he was alone. He cancels the casting with a /heal, sends me an invite, and off we go. I'm very UNFAMILIAR with Olton/Newton Movalpolos. I don't know where anything is. Matter of fact, I've only been here twice. Once when it was first added in the update, just to see what it was like a little bit, and the other was for the COP missions. So, I don't know where the Bugbears are at all. I'm running around and around. I finally run into someone, so, I ask for help on where to find them (which direction and such). She tells me to go North, which is kinda the direction I had just come from, but, I think meh, maybe I just over looked them (kinda hard to over look a Bugbear I think though). Turns out, it was completely the wrong direction (that really wasn't nice). I came back to where she was, and kept going passed her in the direction I "was" going the first time. What do you know, a Bugbear was only 3-4 seconds away from me the whole time, ;;. Anyway, I pull, I fight, I kill, I learn, I rejoice, I warp, ^^.

So far so good eh? Should I stop while I'm ahead? Hmmmm....

Death Scissors - Al Zhabi again, /sh Teleport-Mea time. I see a whm I know, and she Teles me. I'm in the maze now, and there's plenty plenty scorpions here. This was great. I didn't know that scorpions had so many moves though, yeesh. I was like, wow! No problems here, nothing much to tell. Go there, learn it, and be on your way....

Dimensional Death - Okay, ready to do what you wish you could do during ALL spell hunting runs. This and Venom Shell, has had to be my favorite spells to farm thus far (maybe except for the excitement of farming Capped zone spells, I had a blast doing those too). The reason I liked farming Dimensional Death and Venom Shell, was because, you didn't have to use the "Weak weapon to help the mob build TP" method. No, against these, you can just fight/beat them like they stole something. I don't mean spam them with Blu spells (You'll kill them too fast if you do, :P), but, a few spells here and there wouldn't hurt, but, I meant being able to just use your primary weapon. The reason, is because, (in my case) they will ALWAYS use Dimensional Death. Someone said it in another forum as well, but, I think this is THE only TP move the ever use/have. So, needless to say, this trip was cut short quickly. Every fight is a chance to learn.

Eyes On Me - Out of all the hunts today, next to the Tonberries, this one had to be the most dangerous.......lol, YEAH RIGHT, I'M A BLU, :P. Anyway, these do try everything they have to kill you, but, it doesn't help. Just wait for the move. There's plenty eyes around the glacier. More so towards/around the Xarcabard zoning area (just the REGION near it, not right exactly at it). Shouldn't be too much trouble. They used the move pretty frequent, it's just, they have a lot of moves to use though, so, it's not exactly always going to be quick fights (If you're like me, I wait until every pull/enemy uses the desired move before I kill it 95% of the time).

Well, that was my adventure yesterday. I'm currently hunting Bad Breath (0/3) and Maelstrom (0/1). That hunting trip took about 3hrs. (that's including travel time). Take the travel time away, and it was more like 1.5 hrs. or so. I had a great time, and will update once I gain some more levels (The level 62 spells are approaching, ;;). I'm not looking forward to farming those at all. As I've not heard good things from those farming trips yet, /sigh.

Oh, almost forgot...

Took a little break from BLU so I can unlock and level NIN. So far I've gotten to L.12. I'm hoping to get a few levels so I can change back to L.23 BLU.

Must...learn...every....mob ability. I wish they add Frog Drop to the game. And dinner forks.

You actually learn the spell the moment it dies. The message will appear before anything like exp gained and who got the final blow. If you kill each other at the same time (which is what it sounds like you did) you were, technically, alive when it died.

It was specifically stated by SE that you can not learn a spell if you are dead when the monster dies (should this be proven wrong SE needs to sack their translator).

Well, for the people who do use my thread to help, I'm letting you guys know, I'm taking another break from Blu soon.

With the new update, there's lots of things I need to merit for once again. I want ALL the new Rdm spells, DEFINITELY have to get Ninja Tools Expertise, Ninja ability "Sange", probably going to cap spell interruption rate, then, build up another 10 merits, to have waiting for my Blu or my Drg when they reach level 75. So, it'll be a while, but, when I return, I'll revive my thread if no one else keeps it going.

See you when I see you, and good luck to everyone. Maybe they'll come out with the category 2 merit stuff before I return, ^^.

Yea me to nice... combine AF with frenetic rip and spinal cleave i feel like sh!t over it.. i killed my mnk friend over 7 times trying to get rip and still didnt get it, didnt even see it once...didnt try spinal cleave...AF cloth is 4m why SE WHY! wasnt learning spells stressfull enough???? probably gonna quit ffxi out right soon

Well, I'm here to say some good news actually. Yesterday, I went to party on my Blu (havn't in such a long time, been meritting again). I managed to get about 39k xp in Wajaom Woodlands, carrying me from lvl 59-61 (I was like, 15k TNL to 60 at the start of the party). It was great! I imagine I could've gone farther if I wanted, but, that morning, me and a friend went duoing, to try farm Soulflayers. After about 45min of farming, we managed to get a cape to drop. Hoping for another drop, so we both would have all the silk we needed, we farmed for about two more hours, but, had no luck. We did end up getting 3 staves to drop though, that I'm hoping my friend can successfully desynth for me for some good gil (bloodwood lumber)

After I xping for hours on end, waiting for my friend to log on that I knew had clothcrafting skills, I sent him a /tell. He said to give him a minute, and he'd attempt the desynth for me. My partner that had helped me, got fustrated with the drop rate on these, and bought at least one of his silks yesterday for 800k (got pissed when he saw the new update for today, ;;). Anyway, my good friend Ergoth (Whm on Phoenix server, lvl 72+3 (I think +3) Clothcrafter) told me to meet him in Windy for the attempt. I had full confidence in him (before he told me he was lvl 72 cloth, I "thought" he was 100, :P). As he begins, I'm cheering him on. OMG! He HQed the desynth for me, ^^. His fee was going to be, "if" he got a HQ, he'd give me two, and take the third. Well, he said, since the drop is so rare, he'd wave the fee for me. I was like, whoa, thanks! Instead of selling the third one for some GOOD gil, I gave it to my friend who helped me farm it (Rikanya). Now, Ergoth has helped two more Blus be able to fully complete Blu AF now, with the most expensive item out of the way.

Don't give up hope Death, ;;. Find you a good friend, and try duo/trio those mobs, if it turns out, that the synthesis recipe is still just as rough.

Now, I'm level 61. Man, I don't know about others, but, MBing is back again, ^^ (it fell off a bit, when xping on puks, because, MBing just wasn't doing too well). Now, I'm MBing my gravitation SCs with Eyes on Me, and it's doing around 382dmg or so. I'm also thinking, AF head is having something to do with that. Though I have my silks now, I still don't have full AF yet. Just the weapon, feet, and head like most others. I'm working on getting the rest soon.

I don't know what to tell you. I farmed my Self-Destruct there as well. Ran back and forth between two rooms killing Spunkies. There were a total of four spawn points. At the rate I was killing them, one was always up at all times.

Spunkies are lower level as well.

two things one the rumor about CHR hear it yes/no and barring? and two max number of spells you can learn i a JP day, is there a limit and if soo what is it?

Just learnt Frenetic Rip in Caedarva Mire.

Duoing with another BLU we managed to break the horn with Sneak Attack (critical hits will break the horn, you dont have to time it to when they use a Tantra move or with a Weapon Skill). You do however (as far as I know) have to be behind the mob (I dont mean just when doing it with Sneak Attack). Managed to learn Frenetic Rip 1/1.

Also learnt Maelstrom on the ferry on the way to Nashmau to learn Frenetic Rip. Again 1/1 ^^.

While soloing on the ferry I pulled an Apkallu through the door to the inside and learnt Yawn 1/1 ^^ makes a nice change of pace from the 10+hours total to get bad breath and 1000 needles.

It should be possible to break the horn from infront. When I duoed with the other BLU the horn of an imp broke but was reformed before we could give the imp the TP for Frenetic Rip (sleepga II is a pain ><). When we checked the log the only thing we could see that might have broken the horn was that the other BLU had scored a critical hit on the imp (from infront).
