Hello all,

This is the first time i've logged into my FFXI character since 2005. When i logged in today, i found out i was a lvl 57smn, however i have NO EQUIP at all. The only thing i left on my character was 10mil gil...

So i need your expert SMN suggestions on how to completely outfit my lvl 57smn within a budget of 10mil. I'm not sure how prices are now but i remember things were getting so inflated (which is why i quit). I had put all my equip in the AH and received 10mil in my inbox. What a nice surprise!

I'm also at a blank of what to start doing first after i completely outfit my character. I'm unsure how to check where i am with quests and such to get the ball rolling again!

Best,
Tim

I'd say that your first priority would be to purchase a Chatoyant Staff, which is the new HQ combination elemental staff (combination of Vulcan's, Aquilo's, etc). It'd serve as your staff for -perpetuation cost for a good while at the very least, having an equal -perpetuation cost to Bahamut's Staff. After that, stuff like Austere's/Penance set would be about all you'd really be sinking a lot of gil into.

Once you get to 75+, most all of your notable gear will be Rare/ex, so when it comes to gearing up your Summoner, time will be more of a factor than gil.

Is it the combination for all the elemental staves?

The Chatoyant Staff is synthesized through synergy by combining all 8 HQ elemental staves together, and the Iridal Staff is synthesized through synergy by combining all 8 NQ elemental staves. It has the same boosts to magic accuracy, magic damage, and - perpetuation cost that the elemental staves do for their respective elements, the same base stats of all of them combined, the Cure Potency from Light/Apollo's, and the MP recovered while healing +10 from Dark/Pluto's.

Arguably now, with the inclusion of Elemental Siphon, the whole set of Austere/Penance would be good to have till you can start picking up relic gear at least, since all the pieces have +Smn magic skill, the body has -perpetuation cost, and the head, hands, and body have - Bloodpact Ability delay
