Abyssea?Follow

Trying to come up with some strategies to best utilize smn in abyssea for xp and for hunting HNM. Wondering if anyone is putting earthen armor to use against mobs like glavoid who can dish 6k of damage in a shot talk about man down! How are the BP2 Nukes? How does the smn BP effect lights?

Just got my smn to 83 and working on my smn skill I /bow to those that have capped it cause this is painful as hell lol....

Cool thanks for the insight 1900 wind blades not bad at all is that with 5/5 wb? dang nice which NM where u getting that on and how long is it taking to kill them?

Pred Claws works great on Abyssea NMs in my experience too. I've been doing 1800-2900 damage with Pred Claws in Abyssea. Garuda is a beast at 85, I honestly think SMN got one of the biggest boosts out of all jobs from the new levels. Most jobs didn't get particularly strong new weaponskills, their damage didn't go up a ton. Ours did. Physical BPs are WAY stronger than they used to be, and the atmas provide a way to boost our merit BPs through the roof as well.

Seems I am going to have to go znm hunting for a certain head band.....

Atma that can enhance elemental magic accuracy and attack seems a win and any of the ones that has refresh seems good and if you can have your avatar out with REGAIN that's just icing on the cake....

One thing I'd like to test is if the Caller's Pendant Regain effect stacks with the Regain effect from Atma.
Did anyone check this? I don't think I have a Regain Atma yet ><

I use the stat boosts as well, but I do not have the abyssite for the bigger stat boosts yet; I definitely need to get those, for my other jobs as well. I also have max skill and use for pclaws (listing only my relevant gear):

Bahamut's staff
Karura Hachigane or Elite beret +1 (had 3/3 marduk forever but haven't gotten around to upgrading it, but it's cheaper now)
Sacrifice torque
Summoner's Doublet (<3 the critical hit +3 for phys pacts, I want the HQ)
Summoner's Bracers +1
Evoker's Ring
Astute Cape
Caller's Sash (irrelevant for phys pacts but I haven't picked up summoning belt yet...)
Evoker's Spats +1
Nashira feet (have relic but I always just tack on the skill since it looked like they didn't add too much by keg's testing)

So... you will have more than 30 attack on me using predator claws (15 merits, 15 body, str difference from your key item, relic feet) and I guess it probably depends on what's being used by others too (ie Dia 3). I usually use summoner low man with a few other summoners, bst, rdm, blm... So there is usually bio thrown on the mob for the DoT. So that's probably why my numbers are lower than yours. I think garuda was averaging like 1200 predator claws on Bakka last night, non critical.

I think the coolest thing though, is that once I get my second lunar abyssite, I will be planning ahead for what I will be fighting and changing my atma accordingly (since you can port around easily). I only have most of the mission atmas right now... But if for instance fighting bakka (where I don't wanna use ice or thunder, pclaws spam) I can throw on the aht urgan or bastok atmas with shantotto or windurst. Or if I am going to spam pclaws, windurst atma and hopefully something else good for magic pacts I have acquired (I really want the wind mab +40 macc+ one from Alkonost!). I love how atma works for summoner... well actually how it works great for many jobs. But it will be really cool to customize summoner with it.

Tonberry Lieje would be fun to whack with predator claws, but I tend to stick with levi just because he can eat like 5+ high level fire spells.

I did it SMN+RDM so survivability made RDM happier.

Edit: Also did anyone figure out if STR helps BPs, or if we should focus on MAB for damage increase atmas?

Right on, avatar's don't have particularly high STR at all, and most of the damage from Physical BPs come from a high multiplier rather than attack or base damage. Altering base damage therefore should have a major impact on damage, which can only be increased by levelling up or getting STR+ on your avatar.


STR will help tremendously. As for the correlated attack bonus, there's been no testing to suggest 2STR=1 Attack, and any testing to that effect will be extremely difficult considering the minor effect attack plays for avatars.
