Has anyone done the Diabolos fight as a party of 85?Follow

I'm helping a friend do this fight on Thursday, and even though it's mostly for her, I'm pretty much taking lead. I'm jsut wondering what I can expect from a party of 85's. There'll be a summoner, either a paladin or monk, and a dancer so far.

And while I'm at it, would a 85 paladin have any problems soloing the 6 main primes? I'd prefer /dnc since that's more my playstyle, but if it's doable as /rdm I'd like to know what to expect.

Not sure about this, but I imagine that Nightmare is still the issue. Even at 80, my PLD wasn't resisting often.

It's been doable since 75 as PLD/RDM. I've been doing it often (almost daily for two years, then started full time, so cut back on the schedule quite a bit), and it's only gotten easier with levels.

/RDM provides the following: Stoneskin (keeps damage taken to a minimum, meaning you're able to dish out more damage as you're not spending time curing)
Enspells (doubles your damage output, particularly if you have a multi attack sword)
Barspells (cuts lots of damage down from added effect and attack pacts from the avatar)

You also want your TP to spam atonement: it's your number one source of damage on avatars, as they take greatly reduced damage from melee damage. Like I said, enspells from /RDM double your damage output.

I haven't gotten 85 on PLD yet (focused on BLU and other activities, first), so I'm not sure what Enlight does on avatars yet. My friend hasn't been ecstatic about it. If you got this, PLD/DNC might have a little more leeway, since it wouldn't be hurting for damage any more, but giving up those barspells is not something I'd take lightly. The two hour can still hit VERY hard. I haven't died to it in a while, but I've certainly taken some bad hits back to back. You wouldn't die often without the Bar spells, but they certainly reduce the risk to almost nothing.

should be a cakewalk in comparison. We raped him at 80 with 2 SAM's in front.

With a good stunner, Diabolos was easy at 75. Just make certain that you have a good stunner or two. You don't need CS stun or anything. Just take like a BLM and a DRK that know what they are doing and you should be fine. Stunning nightmare is key. Barsleepra (for all) and Fowl Aubade (for the mages) are good in case the stun fails too, but I wouldn't rely on them as your sole defense.

A balanced party for First Lieutenant fights at 85 are cake. I'm not sure if Diabolos could be harder than instanced HNM fights.

I joined a party toady to kill it. 85 blu sam sam sam whm rdm/drk....

full buff and full tp before enter.

Totay fighting time ..... 10 seconds.....

So... don't be worry XD

I did this fight a few weeks ago on my SMN. Leeched at level 67. The fight itself was cake though.

I think we had one guy over level 80. I can't remember the exact setup, but we had a rdm/drk, 2 blu, nin, and a sam maybe? We spent about 2 minutes buffing, and 30 seconds or less for him to die. Not one nightmare landed. Headbutt/stun ftw.

I tried this yesterday. Party was SAM 85, SAM 85, SMN 70 (me), and DRG/RDM 80. We wiped two times in a row and then the SAMs gave up. It was a sad day.

The first time, one of the SAMs 2-houred and got it down pretty low, then we got hit by Nightmare. By the time we woke up, Diabolos had used Ruinous Omen and had everybody around 100 hp. Both the SAMs died, then I died, and the DRG (who was me on my other account) was alive while Diabolos had about 1/10 hp left. I got one healing breath off and thought I'd be able to finish it no problem, but then he hit me with Nether Blast for around 500 and killed me. Couldn't get off any jumps, spirit surge, or weapon skill.

The second time was even worse. One of the SAMs had his 2-hour left, so we figured we'd be able to do it no problem now that we knew what to expect. Well... the first SAM ran in and Diabolos drew everybody in before we could get any buffs on. I don't know what he was thinking. We had no earthen armor or aerial armor, no barsleepra, the DRG didn't have time to put phalanx or ice spikes up. It makes me so mad. After wiping the first time, you'd think they would take a little extra precaution to make sure nothing goes wrong the second time; but noooo, he just runs in there and messes everything up. Then afterwards he had the nerve to tell me that the reason we died the first time was BECAUSE of aerial armor... since, by his reasoning, the shadows were allowing us to get hit without waking up. Then I explained to him that you can't be awoken from Nightmare by being hit, but he didn't believe me.

It should have been a piece of cake. If the SAM that had messed it up the 2nd time would have 2-houred the 1st time, we would have had it. Or if he wasn't in such a rush the 2nd time... we would have had it. Instead, because he couldn't wait 2 minutes for a full set of buffs, I have to wait a whole 'nother day shouting in whitegate and jeuno looking for help. :(

The problem of the diabolos fight has always been nightmare.

Stop it from going off and its easy. Get hit by it and things go downhill.

85 Sam and 85 Pup w/BLM puppet fight was over before it began Puppet nuke hit for 2.2k Sam starts with 300tp and self chains then 2 Hrs fight was over seemed before it started..

1 BLM, 1 BLU, and 1 RDM/DRK and any other 3 peeps will work on Diabolos. Eat poison potions to deal with Sleepga but the stun lock setup does work nicely.

As for diabolos, we crushed him in less than 30 seconds. rdm/drk chainstun, whm healer, tank, 3x DD. Looking back, we probably should have lost the tank for another DD. And any healer would have been fine, probably would have been an easy win with a 5th DD even.

Just have the DD's come full zerg and hit their two hours, it's a cake fight at 85 as long as you let the rdm start the action with chainstun.
