However, I believe my initial number was correct. I'm almost positive a tick is actually 3.33 seconds (3 ticks per 10 seconds).

Refresh 1 is 50 ticks of 3 mp, for a total gain of 150 mp, over 150 seconds. 150/5 => 3.

You may be thinking of hMP vs refresh while resting? I know refresh counts as 3.3 hMP when resting per 1 refresh. 10 seconds /tick after the initial 20 second rest. So a 1/tick refresh body (if you don't feel like changing to seer's tunic every hMP tic) beats seer's tunic because the 3.3 mp beats 1 mp over ten seconds. You obviously know this, but I'm thinking that's maybe where you got the 3.3 from?

Pergatory is correct.
Vana time does not compute down to 3 seconds exactly.
This can be easily documented with timestamp in game, or ask your favorite Samurai if they've ever received 120tp from meditate (72 subbed). 3 Seconds is simply the 'average' we use to simplify what SE insists on complicating to the extreme. That's why the Wiki refers to a 'standard tic' being 3 seconds. It's just the standard we've come to accept for the ease of calculations in reference to game time.

I got my Razed Ruin and Beyond Atmas this weekend! I was quite the happy Taru. I got to play around a bit with them and I see what all the fuss was about! I'm not ready to say that I'm on team physical BP's yet but they were far and away better on the tough bosses I fought over the weekend. We did a few Carabosse and Turul's over the weekend and Predator Claws and Chaotic Strike (I think people forget how powerful a pact it is too) were just stupendous - 2500+ on both of them.

Obviously on anything resistant to physical damage you'll want to go with nukes, but on some of the weaker NMs I've found Shiva to be reliably strong. I was killing the T1 VNM in Attohwa and I started off using Garuda. She would occasionally throw up huge numbers but she would also have some lower damage. Aside from 1 half resist in hours of killing, Shiva never did less than 3000 damage and seemed to cap around 3700. Garuda obviously has higher damage potential but I like the consistency of HS and it's ranged nature. It's also nice when you are soloing and need refresh. None of the refresh atmas enhance our physical side. One of those would be nice, as would an atma that increases MAB and Mag Crit Hit Rate.

I'm happy to have both and I think it's important not to neglect either one or the other.

Grats on your atma (wish I could say the same thing for myself on getting Razed Ruins but had a failed attempt last night), and your last sentence is 100% true. I'm loving the versatility and the pure power of both our physical and magical sides. However, until I get Razed Ruins, I'm still on Team Magical. 4k magic bursts on Heavenly Strike is just...beautiful.

Also, I hope our avatars get some amazing new physical pacts at level 90. Garuda's gonna grow a huge ego at this rate. Let some other avatars share the spotlight with you!

EDIT: Got my Caller's Pendant yesterday as well...I'm also a happy taru. Oh yeah, are any of the NMs that drop our upgrade seals soloable by SMN with the right atma? I still don't have a single piece of AF3+1.

Antlion in attowha is if you can find it up. Just toss a spirit at it if your avatar dies and you're too close. I prefer light because it has flash.

Congratulations on your pendant! I too am loving our versatility. I would love for some of the non-Garuda celestials to get new physical pacts. A piercing pact in particular would be lovely. I think Garuda and Ifrit should be up for pacts this time around though.

As for NM's that you could solo, Aggressor is soloable and you can easily pull it to a safe kiting spot. I've heard that the skeleton can also be soloed with Titan or Ramuh. I imagine it would take quite a while and you'd have to pull it away from all of those Undead. I'm not sure if the Tree is soloable. I (unwisely) did quests from my legs seals so I am not familiar with those NMs. As far as feet seals, the rabbit seems hard if not impossible to solo. I don't think any of the avatars could last long enough for you to get the huge distance you would need to resummon. It moves at flee speed I think. Plus it hits hard, fast and uses Wild Carrot. Dvalinn seems bad too but I managed to trio him. Wiki says the pugil was duo'ed by 2 SMNS so solo might be possible if you can pull it pass all the aggro.

I've soloed Kharon in Attohwa, but you will probably want movement speed to do it. There were several times where he killed Ramuh before my next BP was ready and I had to kite him around a rock for a while. Also make sure to bring your Sac Torque because he casts Sleepga II. He's much easier to duo than solo.

Gnawtooth Gary in Vunkerl may be soloable as well. His AOE is very nasty though, so you might want SMN/NIN just in case you get hit by it. It can one-shot a Taru.

I can't time stamp, I'm on archaic PS2 unfortunately.

But that means... Refresh being 50 ticks @ 3.3 seconds a tick would make it a 165 second duration instead of 150 seconds wouldn't it?

I know a vana hour is 2:24 seconds real time, the same as a bard +2 song. So... Paeon 1 @ 4hp/tick should do 48 x 4 = 192 hp if it is every 3 seconds. It would do 172 hp if it is 3.3 seconds. I'll throw that on next time I'm on. I can honestly say I remember ballad 1 + 2 -> 2 minute duration (which would be 40 3 second ticks) and 120 mp net gain...but I'll have to look again. If it is 3.3 seconds, that puts ballad's base duration at 2:12.

Edit:

I used a stop watch... Paeon 1 is 2/tick with no instrument BRD85/RDM42. Used convert -> 212 HP. Used Paeon 1. It lasted two minutes, healing me a total of 80 hp.

80 hp / 2 hp a tick = 40 ticks
120 seconds / 40 ticks = 3 seconds

Definitely going with 3 seconds per tick, and not 3.3

3.3 second ticks would have left 120 seconds with 36 ticks.

Hi,

This boss is easy, and can be camped as it pops between 45mins to 1hour and 30mins after its previous death.

My ls has been doing this with 4 SMN and 1 COR (for refresh)

Easy win and easy kills. Just stay out of his way and let the pets do their job. Kite around the area when it comes running towards you. SMN can move forward to get pet attack with Blood Pact.
**Note: Do not stand infront of the boss as it does Encumberance (Removes your gear for 30 sec)
