New Perp costsFollow

I just updated wiki, but at 80, the perp costs of everything goes up, Carby is 11mp/tic (not counting self-refresh).

Fenrir is 13/tic
Diabolos is 15/tic
Elemental spirits are 20/tic

I was concerned about the possibility of not having free Carby at 80, but it appears that my worries were for naught...

Carbuncle Mitts: -6 (11/2 rounded up)
Evoker's Ring: -1
Apollo's Staff: -3 (or Light Staff / Evoker's Pigaches +1, or a handful of other combinations...)

Auto-Refresh brings it to 0; add Yinyang for +1 Refresh per tic.

If you manage to pick up the 2 new -perp pieces and upgrade the dark staff, he should go back to being free. At least for the time being. >.<

Edit: And I guess 2mp/tick Carby is also viable for the time being.

Edit #2: Brain freeze. The 2mp refresh would only be during the day, assuming an 11mp cost for Carby at lv80.

I don't follow where the 2mp Carbuncle is coming from. Even with Carbuncle Mitts + E. Ring + Light Staff + YYR, you should be getting a free Carby... or am I missing something?

Edit: Whoops! Didn't realize you meant +2MP refresh, not -2MP perpetuation cost. Also, I somehow missed the new refresh feet in the update notes. D'oh!

I think it was meant that the summoner would be receiving autorefresh of +2 mp with what we have access to right now.

I was partly incorrect. For some reason I was equating Carby Mitts with Nashira Gages in my mind. You can get the 2mp tick only during the day time.

At lv80, Carby's perp cost is supposed to be 11. Apollo's Staff 3, Carbuncle Mitts 6, Evoker's Ring 1, Auto-Refresh 1 brings the cost down to 0. Add a YYR and now you have 1mp/tick refresh. The new equipment also adds a refresh piece for the feet, but only during the day time. That would bring the refresh up to 2mp because you do not need Evoker's +1 for Carby.

Same here~ I haven't seen those feet OR the SMN magic +10 body anywhere :(

However, I saw that the new MAB+3 HMP+4 neck piece for SMN is a reward for clearing the slimes fight (#02) in Walk of Echoes according to a post and pictures from BG.

Now to convince my PLD friends to go and tank that!

I think it's safe to say that most people, myself included, are mostly concerned with getting to lv80 first and then exploring the new content. I really don't know anything about Abyssea or Walk of Echoes.

The -1 perp legs are on that massive mage set, so I think it will probably be hard to obtain.

I have free carby without carby mitts now Hope it stays that way. Also have Garuda/Diabolo/Fenrir free

You have a free Carbuncle and Fenrir (with favor) but you can't have a free Garuda or Diabolos with that gear. You'd need Karurna Hachigane and Favor to make Garuda free. Diabolos costs the same as the celestial avatars so he's not free for you either unless you have day and weather bonuses.

I also wouldn't full time favor but to each his own.

Yes, you're correct he does. But practically speaking, how often are you actually receiving his refresh? Only when you are soloing (and he would be a terrible choice because all but one of his offensive pacts are magical) or if you are buffing a mage party and just have him floating at your side. Those don't happen enough for me to consider him truly "free."

And on a sad/angry note, I was marching along my Magian trials getting excited for my Fenrir staff. I check to see the requirements for the next to last trial. . . 200 slimes. Really SE? Our dark based avatar has to get 200 slime kills. I think I'll be happy with -4 perp for a while . . . Can anyone recommend a location other than the 4 slimes in the Mire?

Oops I forgot to put in that I do have Karurna Hachigane. I use Diabolos when soloing and I'm low on mp, even with siphon, and don't want to stop to rest. Usually when I'm soloing that's not a problem though since I solo SMN/THF and use SA + Spirit Taker + siphon. And I usually solo xp in Teriggan or Romaeve and get FoV refresh as well.

Oh btw this mithra is a 'she'.

I guess I'm lucky(?) that half the time when we do Dynamis, I'm in the tank party on Refresh duty with Diabolos and asked to melee to spam Garland of Bliss (the other half the time I'm the PLD).

I think the clots in the tunnels of Mount Z. count as well, and I remember seeing slime in A. Subterrane as well.

I think the clots in the tunnels of Mount Z. count as well, and I remember seeing slime in A. Subterrane as well.

The clots do count, but they're MP drainers at 75... So when I went out there solo, I said **** this after one.

But... I jumped the gun on Walk of Echoes. While the Slime chamber does have a constant double dark weather, there is no exp gain from the mobs, so I don't think it will work. I haven't tested it yet, but unfortunately I think we're stuck with the old mire camp :(

Heh, and the second trial is 50 slimes now. How many slimes do you really need to kill to be a Summoner?

Also I've been wondering where to get some nice dark-half weather slimes. I guess if you get earth in mount or uhm water in subterria? I suck at elemental combinations. Pretty sure Light, Fire, Wind, Thunder are all light based at least.

Sadly there is only wind weather in the Subterrane and the clots do not count. Slimes that fit the conditions are the 4 slimes in the Mire or the slimes in Den of Rancor. (Should I check the weather reporter for the jungles?) If you're willing to sync, other options are Rangeumont Pass and Ordelle's Caves. I'm not sure about the caves, but there is almost always ice or dark weather in the pass. There are only a handful of slimes to kill though and the repop is 16 minutes. I'm kicking myself for not finishing up all my slime trials while it was constantly raining in the mire. Now it's just sunny with occasional thunder and clouds.

Actually, Wiki says that they do not. That page just confirms they are a subspecies within slimes.

I tried this before the update and again today, both times with earth weather and I did not receive credit. I don't know if SE is aware of this because I cannot see any logical reason for them excluding clots.
