I read this on wiki:

# The Range on Favor's Effect is 10' from the Avatar. If someone steps too far away, Favor will return at full effect when back within range.
# Avatar's Favor is a stance that will remain active, regardless of whether an Avatar is Summoned."

Ok so does that mean Ill still get the favor effect even if the vatar is dismissed/unsommoned? if so then how many favors can i have active at once? and finally if I still get the effect of the favor without an avatar summoned then wher edoes the 10' range come from? I ean what would I have to be within 10' of if theres no avatar?

The Favor's effect will wear off almost immediately after the avatar is released, so you cannot have multiple Favor effects by yourself. If you had multiple Summoners in your party though, you could have a total of six different favors on you (granted it requires them all using different avatars).

The actual pet ability "Avatar's Favor", remains active after an avatar is dismissed, but the particular avatar's favor will wear soon after release.

For example: I summon Diabolos and then use Avatar's Favor. The Avatar's Favor and the Diabolos's Favor icons both pop up, and I start gaining the effects from Diabolos's Favor. I release Diabolos and then lose the Diabolos's Favor icon while the Avatar's Favor icon remains. I summon Garuda and immediately gain her Favor effect due to Avatar's Favor being up still.

The 10' range is in situations where you may have your avatar assault something and you stand out of the mob's potential AoE range (thus standing outside the 10' radius of the Favor effect), or not so much for you, but for the sake of a party that you're trying to buff with the Favor effect. For situations where you want to give your party Ifrit's Favor, you'll want to have Ifrit attacking the same mob they are so that they'll be in range of his Favor.

Of course if you are using Ifrits favor you won't be using BPs since BPs reset your favor effect. So you'll just stand there and perhaps heal while you give out DA bonus for a constant perpetuation.

In my opinion that is quite boring, but that is your option for being "useful" to a party.

Is the reset from a pact a bug or have they said that's how it's suppose to work?

SE never says anything. But since favors reset on BP and spirit timers reset on pet commands, I can only assume it is the same bug or planned that way.

Should be asked on a fan fest, but nobody who cares about SMN ever visit them and get to ask it.

It seems pretty obvious that it was intentional on their part. Speaking as a programmer, this sort of thing is extremely unlikely to be an accident. Part of the trade-off for Favor is a weaker avatar. Using a BP is like the opposite of Favor, it strengthens an avatar for a short burst. It only makes sense that the two would counteract each other, Favor making the BP weaker (which has been proven) and the BP making Favor weaker.

Well it would make sense, if using Quick Draw with a roll active gave you a penalty. Right now the game is all about "Summoners should have penalties, everyone else shouldn't" (Though SAMs DO get spell casting slow on their DD JA, and NINs do have to attack from behind with their new Yonin or whatever)

But since the wiki says BPs reset the favor to half the potency I can only assume it is very well planned out. Except there is no reason at all to cut your damage by 25% and your buffs by 50% just because you are doing something else than /WHM-ing on your job.
