Sublimation is great for MP management I get 186MP back every 5 minutes roughly. Theres the usuable Aspir with its halved recast with Stratagems and a usuable sleep for soloing.
You get all the Cures and most of the -nas you get from /WHM along with Regen II which /WHM doesn't offer and Light Arts will give you these with which raises divine, enhancing, enfeebling, and healing magic to a B+ for your SMN mains level along with -10% cost and cast/recast timer.
The only thing you really lose from /WHM is erase, Viruna, Stoneskin/Blink and the Teles.

Pretty much worth using over /WHM all the time unless you really need one of the above missing spells. Erase will be the determining factor, most of the time.

It basically comes down to having Erase, Blink, Teleports, and Stoneskin vs. a reliable Aspir, Drain, Sleep, Dispel, and Sublimation. Granted, Smn/Sch does still have Blink and Stoneskin in the form of Avatar Bloodpacts, but they're limited as far as recast times (if you wanted to reapply Stoneskin and Blink as /Sch, it'd take you a minimum of a minute and a half, whereas /Whm you can do it in a fraction of the time) and they're counterproductive to the MP efficiency of /Sch if you're the only one benefiting from it.

Don't forget you also lose Curaga as /SCH, so if you're fighting mobs that love to use Sleepga, you might want to take that into consideration.

@eiden: yes, you lose curaga but on the other hand you can't be slept yourself while sublimation is running which grants that you'll be able to wake up your fellows at all.

I still find alot of use for /whm and Id say its rare that I personally go /sch. I've only gone /sch when Im soloing certain NMs or monsters. The few endgame events my smn goes to having erase and the spell stoneskin are kind of mandatory if I want to live. You'll have to look at what your own smn is going to be doing in order for you to decide.

but as others have said /sch can easily replace /whm depending on how you play. If you find the event you are going to doesnt require any erase or atleast an erase that leviathan can fix and you can freely use sublimation then there isnt a reason why you shouldnt really go /sch.

sacrifice torque will prevent sleep too so long as you have an avatar out.

smn/sch in dynamis.
keep fenrir out and aspir when ready. drain to counter the sublimation loss.
you can even sleep mobs without much trouble.

@daperfectkill:

do yourself a favour and level it. bringing a job to 37 does take only little time nowadays even if you decide to solo.

it's nice to have a suitable subjob for every situation. i'm usually on /sch, /whm or /rdm depending on what i need for a certain event.
more seldomly i'm asked to sub /nin, /drk or /blm. even if those situations are rare it's still a good feeling to be prepared for everything.

Cheaper spot healing, and whatever perks you get from 50% cost and cast/recast.
Sublimation is beautiful, and even though I am stating the obvious, the more MP you can conserve, the better you can do.

Some of the other obvious things are aspir, drain, and sleep with Dark Arts. Aspir and Drain are very decent, and I read/heard that sleep is pretty decent too, when emergencies deem it necessary.

I did not know exactly how /sch was like either, so I just leveled it for the heck of it. /sch became a new sensation ever since.

Sleep is very good. The problem of course is that after casting sleep you can't use pets for a while unless you want to wake it up.
