New interest in Carby Prime from Favor?Follow

It dawned upon me this evening when we were testing the new abilities out on ZNMs that there were some weapons introduced that were based on a SMN actually leaving an avatar out. These were from "Waking the Beast", which as I recall got little to no attention- bad drop rates and needing an alliance full of SMNs was a bit on the unhappy side. But with the popularity of zerging tough targets, it dawned on me- here is something intriguing. Of most note:
Ifrit's Bow
[Ranged] All Races
DPS: 6.67 DMG:40 Delay:360 STR+3 Ranged Attack+10 Latent effect: Increases rate of critical hits
LV 72 WAR RDM THF PLD DRK BST RNG SAM NIN

Given that it's plausible now that a SMN could augment a zerg party with Warcry + Double Attack favor, does that piece become comparable to anything else a DD could throw in the slot? Garuda's Scythe looked like the only viable piece from the list for a zerg, but Garuda's evasion favor doesn't seem to help as much as Ifrit's Double Attack favor.

Will we see renewed interest in these fights, you think?

Would be nice... I'm still sitting on the Carby prime fight myself. X)

Well, Ifrit's Bow has a really weak base damage for a bow. Double attack doesnt really fit into bows either. You might get some more crits, but with nearly half your base damage wasted on this weapon compared to normal use, damage isnt going to be impressive, even during crits.

The only actual weapon i would find useful is the Shiva's Shotel.

In theory, if you could get a friend to keep Shiva out for free, it's a very nice 50-60 Ice damage per swing, on top of a very nice weapon. I wouldnt find it unthinkable that the magic attack bonus from Shiva's Favor helps with the latent effect as well.

Most other avatar weapons have alternatives with higher base damages, higher stats or better delay. Shiva's Shotel is the only thing i'd find a viable alternative, even without the latent effect. It's easily in the top three for swords for BLU, if not on top. It would definately be on top with the latent active.

I don't think he wanted to actually use the bow for ranged attack, but more for the stats lol.

I wouldn't mind Carby Cuffs know, especially since Favor will offset the lack of Carby Mitts. It's too bad half of the rewards are unusable.

You know what, I was just looking at these. The shiva ones do a lot, I'm sure Ifrits would do just as much.

No we're not looking into getting the bow, but more so getting into the str and extra criticals..ontop of double attacking, a lengthy warcry..kinda sounds like a good buff of course it's not just one big boost like BRD where minuet is so high, but it's multiple decent buffs..and combine into someting sweet..good looking out.

The Waking the Beast drops would be more widely used if the drop rates weren't so bad and the quest so long. I know of several players in my linkshell who want the Ifrit's bow, Shiva's Shotel, Carbuncle's pole, and Leviathan's Couse.

The additional effect damage on these weapons usually do 30-60 damage, but can go as high as 90's on weaker enemies weak to the element. The couse is the highest base damage polearm that non-drg's can use. The additional effect on ifrit's bow is really good as well as being the highest str bow for the ranged item slot. I would like to get my hands on the carbuncle cuffs for my summoning and shining ruby macros as well.

Remember the cuffs only give the wearer regen. So you are more or less just saying you wouldn't mind 1 or 5 HP per tick regen constantly on your SMN.

I know. It's a small tweak at best, but Favor means we don't need Mitts to make a free Carby, so these are now a workable piece of gear for a SMN. Hence "wouldn't mind".

Nitpick:

I know it's a bow (and ranged attack would be kind of obvious), but for clarity's sake, please list it as Ranged attack. There is quite a difference between the two

Edited, copypasta'd the actual stats from FFXIAH.

I doubt this would be a good bow to actually be firing... but STR+3 and Crit+ may still be worthwhile for a DD, perhaps?
