Write your fiction in here in anticipation of the Summoner Update.

Will we get 2 avatars, without rages, and with only assault/release commands after waiting 4 years, or will we get something bigger?

What about the update will match SE's words "You'll be asking how to use them"?

Given the last updates, I'd say we're likely to receive stances too.
Let's say we get a stance for Rage and Wards.

-Rage stance: Enhanced Attack/Accuracy and Magical Attack/Accuracy for Rage pacts? TP Bonus? But what would the drawback be?
-Ward stance: Ehnanced duration and effects? Again what would the best drawback be here?

Higher recast time for BPs? Higher MP cost? Higher Perpetuation (which would be easily negated with the BP&Release system)?

I really have no idea.

Or maybe the new stances will be used for the "new Avatars", leaving our good old ones the way they are now.
Again they can be an Attack stance and a Support stance for these Avatars, or something along those lines.

SE: Summoners will have a name change, now will be called "White Priests". you will have all whm spells up to lvl 37, a 2tick refresh and a 1tick regen. all summons will be removed from spell list and replaced with a summons called "cure" all it does is random cure1's at lvl75 for 3x the cost of cure with 1/2 the benefits.

in all seriousness I hope it is finally the new summons they promised, would at least give me an incentive to play more often. Stances would be an amusing idea but seriously hope they don't go that route.

I am goign to say this.

One stance where u can't BP but perp cost is halved.

One stance where BP are enhanced but perp cost is doubled.

If thats the case we will be perminatly in 2xPerp stance. Unless Carby Kiteing or Duoing pots.

I think to be welcomed/invited into an XP party we need some sort of refresh (Possibly on a New Avatar?) and our buffs to be less reliant on the moon phase.

For an endgame setting I would absolutly thrive if given a 2mp/tick refresh BP. I'm a BP+Release player happy with our current stance in Endgame that I take my SMN too.

Keeping an open mind for what SE gives us, I hope it's worth the wait ^^

Something to help the current Avatars is a TP charging JA, in my opinion.
Like:
Astral Charge - Charges the current summoned Avatars with TP. Amount of TP varies with day and weather.
A normal charge would give 100% TP, while a boosted one around 150%?
Something like that.
I don't know what the recast would be, but around 3 minutes should be enough.
This could help us with nukes and healing BPs should the need arise.

Yes this goes against the whole "We want SMN to let their Avatars stay out", but they didn't specify which Avatars >.>;

I just want a boost to the point where we're considered for more things. But not so powerful that the players who migrate to a job just because it's now got an over powering boost until S.E kills it.

TP / Perpet cost - and a boost to atk / m.atk would be ideal of some sort, whether it's in a job ability or in the day summoned to the avatar, like using Ifrit on Firesday giving him a decent boost in damage.

As for our new avatars, we should get them because this is going to be the last update before they get to their 1 year mark when they said we would be have them by now. What we'll get I have no Idea. I'm hoping it has something to do with the astral gate that is on Alexander..but that's just me. Just not that **** cat..

They will make it so you have to equip bloodpacts to your avatars like a blue mage does. However the number of bloodpacts equiped determines the potency of the pact.

Predator Claws with nothing else added as a pact = extra accuracy, attack, critical hit rate by a %

Ariel armor with nothing else added = more blinks.

That's just me!

Stances are quite likely actually. Though their old "you'll ask how to use them" quote, while probably completely false, does make you wonder what kind of stance systems they could do.

Imagine if you have "normal" mode and "merged spirit and avatar" mode, where in the first case it is as always, but the second has improved avatar models and they occasionally cast their own elemental magic. So basically they cost a little more MP in perpetuation, but have pacts AND magic.

Though even worse if they go the suggested "Make us have multiple summoners summoning a big one", because I'm sure it would never be worth having 5+ SMNs summon a single monster unless it actually hits for 800 per punch.

Everyone is already levelling SMN like wildfire because of the "new" Astral burns. If they make SMN too powerful it will definitely be noticed since everyone and their mom has SMN75 these days.

And anyone who's done ToAU and read anything SE's said about the new avatars know that the stage is set for Odin and Alexander.
#16 Oct 16 2009 at 3:36 AM Rating: Excellent
Actually, some of the official FFXI books released over in Japan point towards Atomos and Phoenix being our next two avatars. A good friend of mine owns one that offers a detailed and comprehensive guide to basically everything in the game (NPC backgrounds, the other areas of Vana'diel yet to be released, etc), and in the Avatar section, which details everything regarding our current Avatars, both Atomos and Phoenix have their own small sections in there. Odin and Alexander are mentioned as storyline characters, and didn't appear in the same section as the other ones.

Just curious, how would they give Phoenix out though? Reborn in the sword, wonder what area in CoP his crystal is. Just curious, when Fenrir was released, was he hinted at all by NPC's or was he really something that was in the storyline fr Windy and was put in later?

Same with Diabolos right? He was a storyline avatar but we didn't get much of a hint that he would be usable? So I'm asking mainly is if there were any big hints to what we've gotten and we can use to see what we'll get? Or is it all just up in the air?

Diabolos and Alexander were pretty huge give-aways that they were going to be added. Both were actually cycling blood pact attacks against you, and used a 2 hour move during the battle.

Bahamut doesn't really have any pacts (unless Terra flare would be a pact, as well as summon wyrm, neither likely to be given to SMN). Odin also has more of a "Fomor" attack style than avatar style, though he does have a 2 hour move.

Fenrir wasn't really hinted at being added, people just assumed it would be since there was the Summoner job and all other known avatars were summonable.

I still think Phoenix and Alexander are the best guesses for new avatars. But that is of course going by Blood Pact avatars, which is what SE says they did not intend to add.

Attohwa Chasm? Don't feel bad I had to look it up. And I have on idea if there is or was suppose to be? Is this back when people were spreading a rumor of a orange/redish crystal with feathers around it?

You know just for kicks while looking up the Tiamat place, I looked up pheonix on wiki. Noticed they said Phoenix was reborn by the people in the Far East. Where exactly is that? Is the Far East where the beastmen are in Aht Urhgan?

Just get rid of Perp Cost >.> Change the -Perp Cost gear to -% MP Cost for pact
If SMN doesnt get a refresh whos up for 15% less MP for Blood Pacts in general. Also up the native melee/acc for avatars so they can actually stay out and melee.
Also Blood Pacts on individual timers would rock. Throwing out a PredClaws every 1min is fine but would be nice if the cure could come in 5-15 seconds depending. Also with individual timers we could see more SMN buffs and SMN would benefit slightly from meleeing as well(go go staff skill)

If Summoner is going to inherit a stance-based system, I hope we gain an ability similar to SCH Celerity/Alacrity, which will allow us to rapidly summon an avatar into play - even if it has a lengthy re-use timer, and comes at the price of increased perpetuation.

Oh, and while I'm dreaming here, it would also be nice if we gained an Avatar-friendly version of the Conserve MP job trait - it wouldn't affect perp cost, but it would occasionally kick in and reduce the cost of BP's.

My idea Summoner update is mainly focused on giving it better ways to adapt with the constant changes faced during end game fights.

1. Put Blood Pact Rage/Ward on the charge system like COR + SCH but keep the mp cost. Both Rage and Ward would get 2 charges each, with -BP effecting the recharge timer for each charge.

2. Lower Avatar Prep cost so we can actually keep Avatars out.

3. Lower Avatar cast time to the same speed as elementals.

IMO. We don't really need new Avatars. We need better ways to adapt with what's going on during a fight. We have a lot of tools to work with but when you add all the super long timers we fall short of being a really good job.

In all the other final fantasies we always got 1-3 non-elemental summons so maybe it'll be something completely new.

A fast cast to summoning avatars for increased perpet would really not solve much. We want to keep avatars out, use their abilities and gain the boosts you could get from the ones with TP bonus added to them.

I think we could use an item that says "Avatar: TP Bonus" other jobs have that for them towards the end where they COULD use it, not saying those weapons are always the best, not everythings a hagun I know.

Ontop of that I think food would be useful, add pet boosts to already existing foods. But take it a bit beyond than just adding str / atk to meats for pets on meats only, let it span through all the foods so all pet jobs can use. Like Sweets would have items that give pet not just Int / M.acc/Mab, but Atk +% / Str /dex / acc not all in one but you get what I'm saying. Put -2 / -3 perpet onto these foods. That's just me.

Here's a revolutionary new "wist list" for Summoner update.

What if: Summoners could "assign" their summons to other members of the party. IE you summon an avatar, you use the "assign" ability on a PT member, then the avatar becomes the pet of the PT member. The PT member gains the ability to use BP and all stats runs off of the summoner rather than the "Assigned master".

1) BP used by the "Assigned master" will consume MP from the Summoner
2) Perp will be drawn from the Summoner rather than the "Assigned Master"
3) Everyone gets their own BP timer.
4) "Assigned Masters" can only use BP if the Summoner is in the PT.
5) Each Summoner could only keep out one copy of each Avatar/Spirit.

Then lower BP cost and and Perp cost by A LOT.
Give the "Assign" ability a 1min timer so that it can't be spammed and forces Summoners to keep Avatars out.

No, but it would help in some of those "oh crap" moments when you find yourself without an avatar out and a mob coming at you, and I'm sure there would be other situational uses. As for what I said about increased perp cost, that was just meant as a counterbalance for rapid summoning. It could be something else instead, such as an increased recast timer for resummoning the same avatar, or something else entirely.

I can see where you're coming from now. At first glance I figured you wanted it for faster pact/releasing and that style just annoys me since that's what we're trying to get away from is all. I can understand the annying feeling that comes from carby dying, mob comes for you and avatar has to be summoned, come out..give a quick hello and then he's off.
