SMN SkillingFollow

I am totally new to SMN job. Have only played it doing burns.

I am sure there has to be more to the job. So, I am trying to learn about it more.

First thing I am interested in learning is how to get major skill-ups.

I did read you could get skill-ups doing campaign battle from calling avatar, but no luck. I suspect the info was bogus?

Unlike weapon skilling, SMN skill ups require calling avatars and avatar casting spells.

Is there a technique or zone affect that can enhance SMN skill-ups results? Do tougher mobs affect skill-ups?

I am currently SMN magic at 135 on a level-73 SMN job. I know that is totally rediculous, but as I mentioned, have only done burns at this point.

When I skill-up weapons, I have a series of zones I use >> going to tougher zones as skills cap for that zone. Should I be doing the same program for SMN magic skilling?

Thank You in Advance for suggestions.

well, 1st of all, i'm not 100% on this, but pretty sure if u have the tag, then u won't get any skill up on anything during campaign. 2nd, it doesn't really matter what zone or what mob u do the BPs on (far as i know at least), as long as u do it. just repeat summon, BP, release and u'll see some skill up soon enough.

on a side note, i lvl SMN back in the day when there is no FOV, no level sync, no campaign and no SMN burn. and this was way back before they split the BPs into rage and ward, and u only get skill up when u summon (insert old talk of walking uphill, both ways, in the snow, for 40 miles, etc etc). i got summoning skill cap back during all the waiting for PT (stay outside Jeuno and just keep summoning and release). i was talking to another friend in the LS and i mentioned this and he was all like "wow, u really like punishment don't u?" ^^;;

edit: not sure if u know, but u have a chance of getting skill up as u summon, and chance of skill up when u do BP, so that's 2 (or 3 if u find something to do rage BP on) chances everytime u summon. and no it doesn't matter what zone or what mob u do this on. it's all equal chance/luck base far as i know.

Read up on how summoning magic works. You'll find it's not as big of a deal as you think. Cap it anyway.

In a nutshell: Yes or Besieged.

Go to Besieged. Summon an avatar, use their II-level nuke on some scary-looking monster, and Release. Repeat as HP and MP allow.

Throw in some buffs when your Ward timer is up to make the EXP/IS a little more worthwhile and to increase your skill-up opportunities.
