fortunately my skill is capped up to 68 or so (didnt start burning until 71, got sick of cure3 spam) but now that Im 75 I need to cap it to get the full effects of the skill. Ive tried summoning outside but it seems to *never* go up. So are there any tricks to getting it to go up at a half-decent rate?

Also, can it go up in campaign? (only just got wotg havent touched it yet)

1. Make full use of each Summon. Since you can skill up on bloodpacts, you get three opportunities every 60 seconds or so for a skillup. Be sure to Summon, use a Ward, and use a Rage before dismissing.

2. Make sure to target level appropriate mobs with your Rages and/or Wards. The rough rule of thumb for leveling a battle skill is to take your current skill and divide it by 3. This gives you a very crude estimate on the level of mob to target. However, at level 65+, you can start working on "endgame" mob types without much of a penalty. This is why Besieged is a good suggestion for you.

3. No, Campaign does not award skillups. Fighting Campaign mobs outside of Allied Tags will give you skillups, but that's no fun.

Didn't they tweak that so that CB mobs will not give skillups anymore period, even without tags?

Or does summoning skill somehow ignore that?

Oh, idk, my bff jill?

I've never used Campaign as a source for skillups, so I can't comment beyond what I've read. I apologize if it's inaccurate.

Yeah that was nerfed a few updates ago, It's a lousy way to skill anyways.

Depending how low you skill is outside besieged which is great for skilling I suggest finding a BST or another SMN and duo imps in the mire. Predator claws tears them to shreds and you can get some pretty good exp while you skill.

Go to Besieged and Level it there. Just do all the Tier IV magic on the mobs and you will get massive Skill ups.

I skilled up the smn magic skill before the blood pacts were split, and before blood pacts themselves offered skill ups.

I did not mind, if you are bored, and don't really feel like doing anything, simply sit in a nice place with a nice bgm you like, and just summon your avatars and spirits, until you run out of mp. You can chat, or just enjoy the scenery. You could do a cheap BP on a summoned avatar for the heck of it.

I never really burned back then, and I was seriously under cap at 75. However, in between events and other things, standing there for a few hours at a time doing nothing but summon avatars and spirits, I capped my skill in about a week.

I was already done before the pacts were split and we were given the ability to skill up using pacts..just curious for any summoners who might ask me, how decent is the blood pact skilling up?

Is it more rare than the original way or just about the same? I guess it's a way to give SMN's a way to skill up through their pact / releasing that we do time to time to 75?

I did it the old way...sit outside bastok..summon spirits over and over for a while until I got invited.

From what I've heard, since I too finished up skilling up well before the bloodpact split, skill ups come in considerably faster than they used to the old way, though the newer way is more costly on MP than the old way.

I too was falling behind in SMN skill, but recently I had the chance to duo with a BST friend just using carby, and I would get skill ups almost every bloodpact. My smn is 69 my skill is around 62 and he syncs to me when we duo.

This is mostly true, however you can use cheap BPs to give you the best bang for your buck. So to speak.

Using a tier 2 nuke on your avatar and using somnolence will be pretty cheap on your mp pool. And if done in besieged, like others have said, then your mp should not even be an issue. Get near a non AOE mob that is getting beat on and you will do fine.

If you have SCH leveled and can use sublimation (70+) then you can sit outside MH in Alzahbi, or in the past and summon, recast, siphon, sublimation, for far longer than you can with /whm.

Simply use your buff BPs each time the timer is up.

Undead beseiged is also the best.

It takes a ton of time but if you keep it capped then when you hit 70+ you don't have to get 50+ levels like my brother did.

I solo for xp on odd job combos. SMN/THF FTW!
