Selenian Cap Testing: RESULTS INFollow

Hey folks.

2 things: 1, since I'm on the final fight now I'm looking at getting Damage Taken -10% and Regen for my Campaign carby-ing.

Since the damage we take tends to fluctuate a bit, I'm wondering how to test to see if the theory that Av's can't get any more DT- is true or not. I'll bite the bullet and get it first if I don't see someone else posting it here. Ideas welcome, because if it doesn't give any benefit, well, better for everyone else to know, yes?

Also, as far as the final fight goes, SMNs look good on this one too. Only thing to watch for is the big boom that always hits everyone, so Taru's low HP is going to be a liability when taking a forced hit. Be careful!

Good luck on getting your caps everyone!

Test it on something that deals constant damage, like 1000 Needles? That's all I can think of.

Please if you could test this with the 1k needle method as fast as possible I will be very glad. I'm very curious if the -10% dmg taken stack with the existant Physical dmg taken-50% from our avatars. I'm almost at the final bc and don't really want to make a mistake on my choices... Thanks!

Char, I'm going to cross my fingers and pray to god that the Avatar DT cap is wrong. If you're gonna want to test it, the posters above were right that you should fight cactuars and get them to 1000 needles. If the avatar takes:

200 DMG: The DT cap theory is wrong and I patiently wait and hope for a tanking avatar.
250 DMG: The DT cap theory is right and that augment is pointless for summoners T.T.
225 DMG: SE is pants-on-head retarded and their damage functions for avatars are like nothing else in the game.

I can't post SSs of log because I'm on 360 but:

Sabotender uses 1000 Needles:
Carbuncle takes 226 points of damage.
Charwolf takes 500 points of damage.

So, it would appear Damage down -does- work for us. But at... 10% of the already 50% off? But that would make 225, not 226. I'm rather confused.

What's everyone else's thoughts on this?

And also: PHEW! I don't have to do the fight over again! XD

SE sees your yahtzee pants-on-head retarded, and raises you a damage point for the hell of it.

It's probably a 25/256 reduction, closer to 9.8%. It would be 225.5 damage, but it's truncating the damage reduction, leaving at 226.

That's my best guess.

Correct!

Most percentages on gear are really just "#/256" figures, using a percentage representing the closest whole number to the actual amount it increases/reduces by. For instance, something that reduces damage taken by 10% is really reducing it by 25/256, which is actually slightly less than 10%. Almost the same thing, but this is what accounts for things like taking 226 damage when you would expect to take 225.

This is why that even though "gear Haste" caps at 25% (to be more precise, 64/256), you actually need 26 or 27% on your gear in order to receive the full amount of Haste possible from gear.

Thanks for the information, I'm interested in finding out the potency of the pet regen so any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks \(^_^)/

I've got to wonder if this is due to a difference between "damage -x%" and "damage resistance". When I say damage resistance, I'm thinking of the feral trait in Pankration, which comes on mobs such as wivres and acts like a "damage -x%" but has a different name. This testing seems to indicate there may actually be two different stats, applied separately.

As far as the Regen potency goes, it says "Regen+1" so I'm guessing that's the new term for Auto-Regen. Carby already has Auto-regen so it should bump it from 1/tic to 2/tic. Every little bit helps get to that next HRII =D

Actually, I think haste is one of the few 1024, so 25% is 256/1024, but most of the gear don't exactly follow the same trend, having for instance 30/1024 on 3%. That makes 25% normally have less than the actual 256 needed(usually 251-252 if I remember right?) and so needs an extra 1% to push it over. /nitpick
