The range of Blood Pact: Rage?
I could see abilities that augment the effectiveness of both the offensive and supportive Blood Pacts seperately but that just seems too stupid.
It was meant to be stupid. The game seems to be moving to a yinyang system of job abilities, and it wouldn't surprise me to see more of them added.
They've only done it for two jobs. Though WHM was more like 3 patches rolled into one. The amount of stuff we got was insane. RDM received a single ablity that multiplied our self buff spells to stratospheric levels of efficiency.
I can think of four...
SAM: Seigan + Hasso
SCH: Light Arts + Dark Arts
WHM: Afflatus Solace + Afflatus Misery
NIN: Yonin + Innin
I'm not a huge fan of the system, but SE seem to have fallen in love with it if the upcoming NIN update is anything to go by.
To be honest, I'd be happy with even crumbs right now. SE have been pippet-feeding us for years now, and as much as I want to see a drastic job improvement, im too realistic to hold out hope for one. New summons have been on the drawing board since they actually got the damned drawing board, but they seem reluctant to actually give us anything with real meat to it. Elemental Siphon was a nice addition, but hardly a groundbreaking job-changing experience.
SMN is a job I enjoy only while soloing or in a duo with another SMN. Why? Because in XP parties im still expected to play the part of a subdued white mage with the occasional appearance of a glowing parrot-lady smacking seven shades of **** out of our enemies. It'd be nice if SE did something anything
to make our damage useable more often, or at least hit harder or more accurately on XP level enemies. They didn't even allow our 65+ BPs to skillchain, despite the fact that all our others CAN. Sometimes I wonder if SE hates the job more than im starting to loathe my choice.
Still, I live in hope that SMN will, if you'll pardon the expression, rise like the proverbial Phoenix and reclaim it's princely title as lord of avatars. If they ever become even a patch on the summoners of old, it'll be only too soon.
