Hi all, Im writing this post as a last resort for any information on obtaining this ring a second time. A few years ago, I quit FFXI and tossed all of my items, including Evokers Ring. Ive returned and want to use my SMN, but I feel so gimped without this ring.
I talked to the quest giver and he isnt very helpful. I talked to a few GMs and likewise, they arent very helpful. They claim since it was more than one year ago that I lost this item, they cannot restore it. They are also unwilling or unable to remove the quest Mama Mia from my completed quests log to simply allow me to redo the quest. For whatever reason, they dont see the logic that since this quest is completed in my log, and there is exactly one quest reward, that I obviously had this ring at one point.
Does anyone have any helpful information that could lead to repeating this quest or getting this ring again? Im not interested in leveling a new character to 75 to simply get a new rare ex ring. I have the feeling Im screwed, hopefully one of you can prove me wrong.

Think the only thing you can do is tell SE that you accidently dropped it. They restore one item once for you. Otherwise you may be sol.

I never understood why people drop R/E items when they quit the game anyway. I can see giving away/selling items that aren't stuck on your character, but why drop the R/E items? I mean, I would want it to still be there in case I ever came back, and you don't get anything out of dropping it :/
That sucks if you cannot request it though. If you can't get it any other way, perhaps SOME day they will fix the quest so it can be reacquired upon dropping.

You drop it so you won't come back. Sadly this fellow is too obsessed to take the hint he gave himself :)

I dropped the Garuda dagger because at the time I needed space and I am still unaware of anyway to store rare/ex items. Anyway I have the same issue, I thought I could simply redo the prime fight later to get it again when I was ready for it and I was wrong. The GM I talked to said all I could do is submit a comment through playonline and ask for a future update that would fix this so GM's could reset quests or so they would reset automatically.
I did send in a comment and plan to keep sending comments and hopefully others do to so this will get fixed. There is no reason why a quest should not reset to allow us to obtained items we threw away a second time. The item should always be there and just tell us we cant get it because we already have it if we indeed do have it.
I understand why someone would throw away an item when they think they can redo the quest and get it again. I'm used to being able to redo quests from other games. I only threw away the garuda dagger so I guess I'm lucky in that respect because I quickly learned I could not get it again which tought me never to throw away anything in ffxi again.

You... dropped an Evoker's Ring? A rare/ex item which can't be reobtained? Um... why? I hate to echo everyone else's comments, but it's a tiny bit daft to toss something away which can't be obtained again. There's no excuse as with all rare and ex items it asks TWICE.
So, clearly you threw it away with intent. I'd like to feel sorry for you, really I would, but somehow I just can't. See, if you want to quit a game then JUST QUIT. Don't toss your items, don't go binning those precious little rare things, just cancel your content ID and vanish. It's SO much quicker to quit that way and saves you MUCH less hassle if you decide to return...
