Hey folks.
A LS mate of mine was toying around with Light Spirit this afternoon and inquired in shell as to whether or not it could cast buffs on other players. I know you have to have it "face" the person in need of the buff, but after trying multiple different positions and the like they could not get Light Spirit to buff the party member.
Has anyone else run into this? I haven't had the time to jump on SMN and look myself but I've no reason to believe I'm being led astray here either. Could someone else attempt to confirm/deny this? He says it was working fine before the patch.

Hmm. He now says it "finally" cast Shell IV. He's at 44 skill over cap, but it was darksday. Fluke? Dunno.

It in general casts on the closest target. Did it not cast at all, or was his problem that it cast on him instead of the other player? Try and aim spirit and make it stand next to whoever you want to buff.
It is smart and will not cast if the person already has the buff, or a higher level buff. So it could be a case of where nobody at all simply had anything for it to cast on them.

Like the above post, yes, if they have Pro II the spirit wont cast Pro IV on them. also something i learned a while back was the Spirit has to actully be facing in the direction of the player. because spirits kinda don't have a face its hard to tell which direction they're facing. But if you move around and the spirit follows you most the time they'll be facing you, and if the PC is right between you and the spirit it will cast on the PC before it will cast upon you.

That's a lie, the npc's in campaign will cast pro 3 and shell 3 and light spirit always cast the tier 4 version and overwrite it on me and party members and i have never know this to be different in any situation since 2005.

All I can really say about spirits is that they seem to be totally random and annoying at times. When I go farm on SMN/Thf. I use light spirit to cast buffs on me. As if just to annoy me it will cast every buff but pro and shell first. I swear you can actually see me slapping my avatar in fustration some days.

You can also think ahead and cast Regen on yourself before it can, so it will cast other buffs. Same for using Spirits in offensive situations. If a mob already has Shock on them, there's a greater chance of seeing Burst from your Thunder Spirit.
