well, im really disapointed about the smn job!!!
i leveld till 40, got all avatars, but smn is so weak!!
my opinion is, that if they are in party (i would not invite them) they are not more than xp leacher!! it took me so long to find this f.....g ruby, to see all weathers, to raise fame high enough to get quests for avatars, to kill them,..... took me so much time...but they are useless! whats your opinion about smn?
prolly many will say i am to stupid to play or im a newbee - but im not hehe.... so, just tell me :D

Aside from the summons they need another role. As of right now they are horribly underpowered. Some unique spells would be nice in addition to the summons.
Summoner's real power is after 70. Before that people complain that they are nothing but weak whm. The only usefull Summoning attacks is the Group Blink from Garuda, The protect/shell attack from Carbuncle, and the Group Stoneskin from titan. At least thats what I heard and saw.

The "true power" at lvl 70.... It truly is in the eyes of the beholder at that point. Try visiting gamefaqs.com and looking up FFXI and reading the Summoner Guide, its very well written and many others including myself have found it VERY useful.
Although if your lucky kzhijian you could try asking Illani, shes the resident SMN of a high enough level to give you the numbers, strategies, ect.
