GE invented a super small and almost completely silent way of cooling your new laptop/tablet/wombat powered doomsday device.

What I've gathered from the article is that it's basically a sort of bellows that'll shrink and expand at a high frequency to create an airflow instead of a noisy and bulky fan. (skip to 1:15 instead of 2:15 in the video in the article to see it in action)

That's very cool (no pun intended.)

One of the limitations on tablets and smart phones was keeping them from cooking themselves in their own hardware. Maybe this will help a bit.

Huh. Interesting concept. I have some piezo blocks here, I'll have to see if I can make one and see if it moves enough air for my CFM meter to read it.
