FFXIV client startup issuesFollow

I just installed FFXIV on my laptop and every time I try to open it, I get a small, blank, black window followed by an error message saying "FFXI is no longer working". To my understanding, it's a pretty common issue but I still can't find a solution anywhere.

My computer is telling me my drivers are up to date and I've also tried lowering all of the settings through ffxivconfig before starting it, even though my PC seems to be way beyond the minimum reqs. I've also reinstalled it 3 times now. Any ideas on what I should try next?

ASUS G73J, Windows 7 64-bit
Intel Core i7 processor
8GB RAM
ATi Radeon mobility HD5870 with 1GB VRAM

EDIT: Nevermind, got it fixed. Just had to uninstall the ASUS drivers that came with it and install the current official ATI drivers
