Has nothing to do with a PC...Follow

...but everything to do with a Blu-ray player.

So I bought my father a blu-ray player back before X-mas when they were on sale at Best Buy. I thought I had bought one that could Wirelessly connect to the internet. It can, but the wireless part isn't built in (like i thought it was, stupid small print ><).
So I know I need to buy a USB wireless adapter.

My question: Does it matter what brand the adapter is?
Itis a Sony brand player. I bought netflix last night, and I know my Father would get use out of it as well if he could access it via his player.

I ask because I bought a Wireless USB adapter for one of my computers, but don't know if I take it over would it work for him (I don't use that computer much anymore, so the adapter isn't being used).

While it shouldn't matter, sometimes electronic devices can be finicky. Worst case is you take it over and it doesn't work.

Also, if it is an older wireless adapter, connection speed may be an issue, especially for streaming video (which I would assume to be a primary thing it would be used for on a BR player) You'll want to be sure it's at least wireless G, if not N, compatable.

The adapter isn't that old, I've only had it for a few months.

I told him what he needed and told him the Sony Adapter via BestBuy's site was $80. He didn't seem to mind, so he may just go out and buy it.
and what a bummer, I get netflix last night...planned to watch it tonight after work and the Server/site was down XD It is now working I guess but blah :3

It really depends on the player. For example, samsung TV's will only take a samsung wifi dongle. They lack built in drivers for anythign else.
