Final Fantasy 11-Vista 64 and Steam issuesFollow

#1 Feb 18 2011 at 10:10 AM Rating: Decent
Hi there all. I recently bought the FFXI collection on steam when it was on sale. I tried to play it, but ran into performance issues. After some searching, I found the Vista compatible playonline viewer. However, since I bought the steam version, I don't have any disks to install the files, only the ones downloaded from Steam. I tried to copy the steam files into the FFXI directory for the vista play online client, but no luck.

I've also tried copying the Vista client into the directory where Steam's play online client is. It copied my information over and runs through steam, but I still have performance issues. It did update the client after I did that, not sure if that had any effect.

Can you all offer me any suggestions? I'd really like to play, but the game is unplayable using Steam at the moment.

As a note, I'm running Vista 64 bit, and my graphics card is an Nvidia 8800M GTS.

Thank you for your help.

Is UAC off? Also, are you running Vista Service Pack 2?

What specific performance issues are you seeing, and what are your computer specifications Edit- aside from the video card?

Well, I found out what was wrong. Apparently my drivers weren't as up to date as I thought. I downloaded the latest drivers and it now works like a charm.

Thanks for your time everyone, sorry about missing something so obvious x.x
