a ATI 5750 is outperforming a 260 GTX in ffxiv, need help.Follow

Hiya folks. I'm a loss here. I have a ATI 5750 card, 1 gig of ram, from XFX. It runs the game pretty decently on standard texture quality, high on the filtering, and shadows at lowest, at 1680x1050 fullscreen. It still lags a bit in LL, but Uldah and Grid are fine, no noticeable lag. Yesterday I switched out this card with a 260 GTX Core 216, with 896 megs of ram, from EVGA, and running the same settings, I'm getting tons of hitching, lag almost constantly in town, out of town, pretty much anywhere I go. I went to LL to do some quests and it was crawling. Now I'm lost as to what is wrong. From everything I've read across tech forums, the 260 is supposed to outperform the 5750 easily, but yet it isn't. I have the drivers updated, and the old ATI drivers removed. Any help solving this weird puzzle would be greatly appreciated.

Q6600 2.4 gig processor (OC to 3.0)
4 gigs of DDR 800 Memory (Think it is OCZ)
Windows Vista 32 bit with sp2
EVGA 260 GTX 896 Meg Core 216 Video card
640 Gigs of total HD space
610 Watt Power supply, Main rail has 40.9A, which is above what the Video card requires.
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L rev 2 Motherboard

Hope this helps.

those two cards actually bounce back and forth on the benchmarks. The nVidia often beats the ATI on DX10/11 stuff--but more often the ATI beats it on the older DX stuff. It's likely the drivers not working with the DX9/DX8 wrapper in Vista/Win7 worth a flip.

There was a post started in the FFXI General section about some new drivers for nvidia that are supposed to resolve the older DX support issues. May want to watch it to see how it worked out:

Also may want to check the nVidia forums. A lot of chatter about driver issues in there. More stuff going on in the 400 cards section, but it sometimes applies to the 200's also:

Didn't find anything that really was my issue. I'm just assuming that ATI is got better drivers for this game then nvidia at the moment. I switched back cards and all is well again.
