I needed a more powerful computer to handle FF 14. Instead of buying one, I decided to build one. When I started playing FF 14 on my newly made computer, it did not run as well as i wanted it to. Even after I reduced the settings on the game. The game will produce lag at random times even in low traffic areas. Could there possibly be a compatibility issue with my hardware? I bought the motherboard and the processor as a packaged deal off of new egg. I installed all of the components, installed windows 7, updated the bios, installed direct X, and installed my video card driver.

the Nvidia 400 series and ATI 5800 series cards some issues with earlier drivers in certain games.

If you get a chance, run speedfan on it as well and see if you are overheating anywhere? Did you have to pull and reattach the processor heat sync? What type/make/model of case are you currently using?

My drivers are all currently updated. My processor is running at 31C and my MB is at 28C.
Trust me, I am not one to knock any game, but FFXIV is not working as it should as a 'release' game.
Even people with VERY high end PCs still complain about lag and stuttering.
Rumor has it the Square rushed FFXIV out the door to get it into people's hands by September's end, because it is the end of SE's quarter (for the year)... meaning they pushed the developers to make it stable enough to sell copies to boost their quarterly sales figures.
I am not an SE-hater. I bought THREE copies of the $%#$ing game (one CE, and two SEs), and built a badass PC for close to $2200, so I could enjoy the game.
The game plays fine on my PC except for the occasional lag/stutter, but it seriously needs some major patches that include more quests and an Auction House.
So if the game plays fine, but lags and stutters every now and then it might not be your PC at all.... but the game itself.
Hopefully SE will figure out who is paying for the game and start trying to impress us and not build a game they want us to play... but a game that they want us to want to play.

Well, I also got a new computer, about the same stats as yours but a slightly older graphic card. With everything set to medium the game still feels a bit slow and sluggish but runs ok. What I noticed though is that sometimes it randomly shut down even though I was just sitting afk in a corner. It seemed like the graphic card was getting very hot after a certain time running the game. This did not show when I measured MB and processor temperature though, I had about same numbers as you. Nvidia had a little utility to download where you could manually alter fan speeds when starting certain games or programs. (On the same site as I downloaded the drivers from) It is sitting there together with the Nvidia control-applet. It was a pain to set up but once I got it figured out everything happens automatic when I start the game. I also had a little program for altering other fans in the system in a similar manner that I got with the computer (an Alienware) but I have seen some similar things where you get motherboard bios and stuff for other brands. By just speeding up my graphic fans a bit and also other fans I never had any problem anymore with shutting down. It's makes a bit more noise though and it is still a little sluggish.
P.S. Wrote this at work so I didnt have actual access to the Nvidia controlpanel, but at home I saw it was called Nvidia Performance and was part of Nvidia System Tools that you can download where you download new drivers.
