Retail connection problemsFollow

Hello Everyone,

I started playing FFXIV from the first closed beta, and everything worked fine, no lag no errors or disconnections. I could play for hours without anything going wrong.

Now since i started retail version from CE opening on 22nd my R0 keeps dropping to 0 every hour and it takes ages to disconnect. After this happens i cant log back in and my internet stops working properly and i have to reset my router. I have DSL internet connection which never effected me in the closed beta. I have also played FFXI for hours upon hours and never disconnected.
I hope this is only a temporary thing, i just wanted to see if anyone has had the same issue, as i have yet to find anywhere on the internet a solution to this problem.

thanks,

Sounds like a connection fault rather than the games fault.

Check with your isp if there are any faults/works in your area.

Also, can you connect directly to the modem or replace the router?

Have you recently updated any drivers/firmware?

I'm having the same problem.
my ISP is fine, and i was able to download all the patches at about 900KB/S but I'm always getting R0 problems exactly the same as you described.
I've opened ports and even went as far as completely disabling my firewall but I'm still getting these problems.
about 80% of my playtime is spent being frustrated by R0 =/

There could be a variety of potential issues at play here. I'd try updateing your router firmware for starters, as well as your network card drivers. If that doesn't do the trick, you are going to have to get creative and do some sleuthing. Download wireshark and run it. http://www.wireshark.org/ You want to point the program at your network card (or the one you are using if you have more than one) then let it run and fire up the game with the program logging your session. One quick note DO NOT POST THAT LOG HERE as it may contain your password hash or other network specific connection information that you really don't want random strangers to have.

Once you experiance the crash, exit the game and then stop the logging program. Note the exact time the disconnect occured. You should be able to match that up to a group of red and black disconnect information. If you can, PM that to me and I can tell you where the actual problem is at if you like. If not, you could call your Internet Servie provider and talk to someone in their tech support as they already have all that information if nothing else.

I have a similar problem in that I keep getting disconnected or a permanent increase in in-game ping until I restart the client...

I can log in and play for approx. 5-10 minutes before having this happen to me. It's become very annoying and I just can't play it like this.

I should mention, however, that I'm using my university as an ISP (as I'm living on campus for school). Also, I played at this residence during open beta and did not have this issue at all. This problem does NOT occur while I play other games (currently playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2): I haven't tried any other MMOs while in residence.

Any help, if any can be provided (I think I might have to contact campus tech support or something), would be greatly appreciated as I'm paying for something that's unbearable to play.
