We need a bit more information than that to start helping you. First of all, what specifics does the error message say, if any? does it list a file? Is there any error message in the event log that goes along with it? (start: Settings: Control panel: administrative tools: event viewer)

What type of computer do you have, with what video card? How much free hard drive space do you have currently? How far iunto the game is it crashing? Seconds after starting, minutes? hours?

With more information we may be able to help.

Your laptop video card doesn't meet the minimum specifications to run the game. As it is a laptop, you will not be able to upgrade the video card. Sorry. You might be able to get it working with an updated software driver, but i'm going to assume you already tried that.

You are likely going to have to upgrade to a new computer to be able to run that particular game.

In most cases that I can think of off hand, you either have intel integrated video graphics, or Nvidia graphics. it's one or the other. I suspect the Nvidia card was available as an option, but you ended up with the intel integrated graphics instead, and thus don't meet minimum specifications either.

Ah, that would explain things then.

The motherboard in that particular desktop then, has a lower end chipset. You can put a high end video card in it, and it will likely run if the card itself will fit and has power leads, but even then it won't perform as well as it would on a better motherboard. Plus depending on the size of the case and the power leads inside you might have serious trouble installing something like a 470 GTX. What specific model and manufacturer is this computer I can give you a better idea of what might fit then.

Yeah, I think that g31/33 line had pci-e 16x support, but it wasn't the full 2.1 spec. so a really high-end card may be bottlenecked by the bus a little. You may not have a lot of watts to work with in the stock power supply either. You could probly find a good deal on an ATI 4870 or an Nvidia 200 series card that would run decent in that system without killing the power supply.

You can go to the HP site (www.hp.com) and go to the support section and let it auto-detect your system to get more specific details on what you have and your upgrade options. Once you get the details on the video card they recommend you can shop around. Bear in mind though, you might want to invest in a higher wattage power supply though, especially if yours comes up as less than 500 watts.

I have a similar error, I bought the collectors edition 2 days ago and after installing everytime I try to run
gives me the stopped working error
I'm on the Asus G73Jh with the i7 1.66 ghz radeon mobility 5870 graphics card 6 gb of ram
I've tried going to ati's website and updating the 5000 series drivers to 10.8 without showing any progress
I tried googling and some of only suggestions seem to be flashing the bios, but one would think such a dangerous
thing is not necessary. I'm not sure what the problem could be and I really just want to finally play the game :(
