FFXIV with my ASUS G73Jh Series LaptopFollow

#1 Sep 24 2010 at 8:11 PM Rating: Decent
Trying to figure out what is wrong. I let the game install but it seems as soon as it is finished, I try using the shortcut on my desktop with no success. I keep getting the "Final Fantasy has stop working". I'm running with a Radeon HD 5870. so I'm not sure how to fix what is going on. Any inputs that would help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Are there any errors in event log (Control panel administrative tools, event viewer) that indicate a failure?

Also, go to the start bar and type Dxdiag to run the directX diagnostic utility, try all the tests and see if any of them fail

Given that it fails immidiatly upon clicking run, I'm guessing this is audio or video related. Check your soundcard drivers are functional and latest Radeon drivers?

Other than that, hows the free hard drive space situation look? defragmented recently?

this may sound stupid... but did you configure the game before you started it?

Could be a mucked up regkey that is preventing it from initing vid or sound at startup. FFXI ran into this sometimes as well.
