I'm having trouble setting up a FFXI PlayOnline account.Follow

I just bought FFXI today and I was setting up my account and came to the part of the registration where you use the Payer Authentication Service. I put in my Debit cards number and my zip code (In the left hand box) and hit submit but it says there was an error. So I put in my 9 digit zip code and it still said there was an error. So I tried putting in the place where I got my debit cards 5 digit and 9 digit zip code and none of that worked.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so can someone tell me how to solve it? Someone told me to just put in my 5 digit code in the left box but that didn't work and putting it in the right box didn't work, my 9 digit didn't work, my banks 9 and 5 digit didn't work, nothing I put in will work. I've tried looking all over the internet for solutions where other people might have had this problem but I can't find any. Help please! Thanks! :(

Also would this whole process be easier to just buy FFXI for my PS3? I mean it would work on my PS3 right? Or would I still have to do this payer authentication crap? Does the PS version still have the expansions?

FFXI doesn't officially exist for the PS3, and you won't be able to play it unless it's one of the first gen 80 gig models with backwards compatibility.

That said, it's possible to get around the Verified by Vista/Mastercard authentication using Firefox+NoScript, or by using the PS2/Xbox360 version. For some reason, only PC players are screwed by the VBV Securecard crap.

(To make a long story short, people's accounts were getting hacked, the hackers were requesting chargebacks on credit cards and stealing the money, and the credit card companies told Square they needed to fix their massive security holes or else they would cease to do business with them. They kind of did fix it with the authentication tokens - it's much harder to get hacked these days - but Verified by Visa/SecureCard has an even bigger security hole called NoScript.)

The old secure credit card FAQ thread: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=10&mid=124935007926342957&page=1

There's a YouTube video linked near the very end of that post that demonstrates how to use the Firefox/NoScript workaround.
