PS2 style gamepad by logitech.

I have a new laptop. I finally get FFXI transferred over. I calibrate the gamepad. Settle back in my beanbag chair with my 2 ltr of orange soda and a bag of pork rinds. /puke* Turn on the game. Choose my character. YES! Login. And my Taru is running all over like she is on crack.

When I try to control the mad dash, I only succeed in making her zig and zag. I seem to remember a similar incident that was simply an issue as to when the pad was connected during the login process. That is possibly total bunk. Fed to me by my half~baked brain.

Is there something I am possibly missing? Or should I just give up and accept that FFXI is dead?

Thank you for your kind attention to this matter

I did read Kao's sticky. In case anyone wondered. I have been playing with the FFXI settings with humorous results.

I dont play ffxi nor do I use the game pad so bear with me as i ask some noob questions.

Does the gamepad have alternate drivers fo it, or drivers at all?

does ffxi support a gamepad for that particular game, if so which one and what is the default the keyboard and mouse?

pehaps by lowering the mouse settings or adding removing turbo (yes some gamepads had that in my youth lol) it would help. holler back if you found a solution or if these dumb questions can be answered or might have helped.

No problem, Hun. I ask people to respond like I am a sloooow 5yr old. I hate this new laptop and hopefully can sell it. All that I know, is bassakward on this new pc.

It does support the Logitech dual stick rumble pad 2. But my brain doesn't. I have been following walkthrus and I am starting to think I have to say goodbye to Bunny and wait for ffxiv. Its a damn shame hitting delete on 5 years of being yelled at, while I would rather fish.

GAH!

Thanks for letting me bend your ear Sweetie.Smiley: nod

Ok so the game does support the gamepad but you are having trouble using it or seting it up if I understand you correctly.

As to your new laptop I am guessing it runs Vista(what a joke for an operating system imho)
but who made it and what are the system specs, vid card etc. it may be a matter of just correcting the settings to get your gamepad to work correctly with the game.

an alternative would be to use a mouse and kb(again Im not an ffxi player so no idea if it does indeed function well) or buying a multi-function programmable gaming mouse. Setup for the mouse kb and gamepad should be fairly straight forward if ffxi has a keybind page that allows you to set certain functions spells or melee abilities to button a,b,c,d. simply open up that menu and click ability xxx and click the gamepad mouse button you wish to assign it to and do so for all the buttons and abilities you wish to use.

I know WoW and several other games allow this to be done, FFXI Im sorry I cannot say for certain but it would seem they would as they allow play via a gamepad
