I've had this PC forever, I built my first PC about 6 years ago. I messed something up though and decided that it's important enough problem to actually try to fix it now.

I made a partition with windows XP. C drive is very very full. Updates and such keep filling it up and I have to compress it to keep it somewhat functional.

It is getting to the point of being a real big problem. I have my D drive partition that has over 70% empty space. I would love to delete the partition all together.

Can I do that? I have seen the option. I want to make sure I don't format my hard drive. I play ffxi and such on it and that would be a huge pain to reinstall all that.

What are my options?

Move a ton of your files over to the other partition.

As far as removing the partition, I don't think you can do it without reformatting.

As the previous poster suggested moving files would help your problem ones such as ffxi in particular as they tend to be large and constantly updated with more added to them. also as far as i know he is correct in stating that to remove a partition it would indeed format those partitions. What I would do is move everything on C: the smaller partition that isnt windows to the larger partition, just remember to update the shortcuts or delete the old ones

Also, be careful moving things that are associated with the registry. I don't know for sure, but I would guess that changing partitions would necessitate a change of their registry values.

You can delete your D partition and expand your C partition. However, you will need software such as Partition Manager to do it without reformatting or losing files.
