#1 Aug 22 2009 at 10:15 AM Rating: Decent
This is my current build that i am seeking some advice / suggestions for upgrades, my only concern and goal is to play FFXIV at it's maximum settings flawlessly, i realize no information has been released as to the specs required but it's safe to assume they will be fairly high.

Case:
Antec 900 - Thinking about getting the 1200 model

Processor:
Intel Core Duo E6420 @2.13ghz overclocked to 3.2ghz

GPU:
EVGA GTX 285 SC

Power Supply:
ANTEC TP QUATTRO 1000W MODULAR PSU

MOBO:
Nvidia nforce 680i LT SLI

RAM:
CORSAIR 4GB KIT TWIN2X PC6400 800M

OS:
Windows Vista 64-bit

Cpu cooler:
SCYTHE KAMA ANGLE CPU COOLER

Please feel free to suggest upgrade advice "if needed" or make any comments.

You're fine for now. Wait until FFXIV is near release, and then not only will you know what you need, but you can get the same specs cheaper then than you would now. I would bet that your current rig could run FFXIV fairly well though.

yeah looks pretty good. the weakest pieces are RAM and your CPU, but still really good.

I forgot to mention i was planning to grab another 4gig of ram making it 8gig total, would this be much of a / worth while performance boost? also as far as upgrading the CPU goes later on any good suggestions?, i would want something that could handle the game at its maximum, money isn't a great issue although at the same time i don't want to spend 1500 on a cpu.

you can run anything out today with 4 gig of ram, if you want a small upgrade go for the Intel Core Duo E8400 if you can, i can't see FFXIV needing anymore.

Look, we really can't give you advice on a new CPU to get for a game that has no specifications, especially when new CPUs will be coming out before the game does. Be satisfied with what you have now and come back later.
