Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T6570 (2.1GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P8600 (2.4GHz, 3MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)

I don't really know a whole heck of a lot about CPU's so I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea on whether or not it would be worth $125 to upgrade from the 2.1 to the 2.4. The main purpose for this CPU will be not incredibly intense games like Warcraft/FFXI or maybe some of the newer MMO's out and coming out. Also, it will be used for music programs and probably at some point maybe some video editing but mainly audio editing. Will I notice a large difference in performance from 800mhz to 1066mhz? Also, does it matter if my RAM is 800mhz while my cpu is 1066mhz? Many thanks in advance!

RAM speed makes not difference - unless you plan on overclocking (running it faster then spec) it.

The big difference between the cpu's you have listed is the L2 cache (50% increase).

I'm not familiar with the P series of Intel processors, but generally faster is better. What are the rest of your pc specs? I'd have to have you invest $125 in a new cpu when you're going to end up being gpu/video card limited.

The GPU for this setup would be a NVIDIA® GeForce™ 9600M GS 512MB. From what I understand thats a pretty good graphics card (from my limited knowledge). RAM will be at least 2gb maybe 3 and hopefully ultimately 4 at probably 800mhz. 250gb 7200rpm HDD. I think that's the main hardware specs. Can't think of anything else pertinent at the moment. lol

Ahhh, it's a notebook. Ok, I'm out of my element.

No. Not even vaguely close.

And it sucks big time but yes, it is a notebook. Thank you very much for the input. I just didn't know if it was worth it.
