Game skips every 2-3 secondsFollow

Usually I just reinstall FFXI and the skipping goes away.

Its very annoying reinstalling everything again and again.

This time i reinstalled but its still skipping. I'll try and reinstall again later because i have an event to go to...but i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem before and know whats the problem.

It can't be my video card because it goes away when i reinstalled it the other times before.

Even in a totally empty place, it doesn't lag or anything... other than the skipping that happens every 3 seconds. The game just freezes for about 1/8 of a second or something.

I'm thinking it might be a corrupted file? But this time i reinstalled it... it still was there.

If it is a corrupted file, does anyone know exactly which file that could cause this?

Never rule out your video card.

If its a corrupt file: open POL, on the main menu you will see an option called check files. Click on it.

In the new window that appears You will see Playonline viewer with an up and down arrow next to it, for now you wont need it. Click check files at the bottom, it will check and correct every file there and correct those needing a correction.

Once that is done, reclick on check files, but this time change the Playonline Viewer to FFXI, again do check files, this should take an hour or so. (just to be on the safe side) Again it will correct the corrupt files. If there are none then it may be your video card.

If it is your video card: did you try with any other games? Does the same kind of skipping occur? Or is it only in FFXI?

One thing you could do is open up your case and blow all the dust out of there with compressed air, it always help your computer run cooler without dstmites around.

If the skipping occurs in every game even after clearing up dust then one of your components is ailing. Video card, processor, motherboard: a roght mix of the right parts is what makes a gaming computer, not every motherboard with a PCI-E x16 slot is meant to be gaming.
