FFXI Config Gamepad issueFollow

So, I recently tried to quit and unwisely uninstalled the game. I have most of my gamepad buttons mapped and ready to go, but I can't get it to set up the directional controls to use for moving around the menu. I have the movement and camera control sticks set-up, but it's not recognizing the directional controls. I am using the 360 controller and I got it to work before. Is there anything I may need to activate this time I didn't have before?

Also, I heard there is a driver that allows the trigger buttons to work with FFXI, anyone have a link for that?

Only link I know of is this for 360 controllers.

http://download.microsoft.com/download/A/C/8/AC8CA87C-4F5B-49D6-9E0A-C0BBA2E96663/XBOX360Eng.exe

Maybe you just need to do a reinstall of the controller then after that run the FFXI Config again.

Sorry I can't be of anymore help, I use my PS3 Controller.

I know what she is talking about because I came here for help with the same issue. The only PC controllers I can find have that ridiculous recoil wire that I hate, so I want to use a 360 controller with FFXI. I have now purchased both a Joytech version and an official XBOX 360 version, and I cannot get it to recognize the LT and RT as anything but axis. It's not a huge issue, as the macro sets can be mapped to the LB and RB buttons instead, but then you lose at least one button function because there aren't enough left. It's a nuisance and I thought it was because the Joytech was a third-party controller, but apparently it's just this particular controller's design.

Guess I will take back the new xbox controller. Does anyone know the solution for this issue?

EDIT - to answer your other question, to move through the menus using the D-pad just click on the Menus button on the right of the config menu. Then use the D-pad to respond to the "move here and press button 1". This will set that up to work and the stick will still go through menus if you want it to.

What I had to do was reset to default and then do the directional pad and it worked. It would be easier if they made the gamepad setup more intuitive and less clunky. You have to test and map every button and spend far too much time going through the process to get any controller to work. They should have a graphic of controllers and allow you to set up the commands that way. The top 2 controllers used are the 360 and Sony controllers and you'd think they better support those for the PC config setups.

Jedi, that is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.

I'd settle for them just allowing you to configure the game pad in-game instead of logging out, mapping, logging in to make sure it's right, finding a mistake, logging out, re-mapping, etc.

And I guess my issue will never be resolved. Those XBCD drivers don't seem to work with the joytech gamepad. I don't suppose anyone has gotten a joytech working properly?
