FFXI, Laptops, and Graphics CardsFollow

So for various reasons, I need to buy a laptop. I've always built my own Desktops, and my current one has lasted me 2-3 years now without any problems, and runs 2 instances of FFXI perfectly. I know FFXI is a pretty old game now, but while that should mean there'd be no worries about any new system, I've heard a lot of bad storys about new laptops and nVidia drivers with FFXI.

Unfortunately I can't build my own laptop so I'm looking around for one. I'm not too worried how good the specs are generally, my main priority is running FFXI. Ideally I'd like it to be good enough to run 2 instances, though I guess this might be a bit much to ask. My budget is also somewhat limited to, as laptops in the UK are pretty expensive.

I've heard mixed stories about nVidia drivers with FFXI. Personally I've always preferred nVidia stuff, and my GeForce 7600 in my Desktop has always worked well for me. But it sounds like some of the newer cards have some issues with FFXI, especially the laptop ones.

I doubt I'll be sticking with the Vista that will inevitably come pre-installed, and will probably "upgrade" to XP, if that makes any difference.

So, any suggestions of specific setups in a laptop that work well for FFXI, or stories of things that work well (or cause problems) for you would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance =)

The graphic card issues boil down into finding a driver that works. It seems to be different for every machine. Best bet is to bite the bullet and then hunt down drivers that work.
