Installation Problem with Vista Follow

I have a question regarding Vista and FFXI. I was gonna post this in the laptop thread below me, but the questions weren't really relevent.

I just installed the game (I downloaded the Vista POL verison.) with Zilart, CoP and ToAU.

However, instead of showing the FFXI icon, it is showing some kind of app icon instead. The second one in the first collumn.

I have yet to install any updates (If I reactivate any content ids before August 1st, have to pay for a whole month... for a day or two of playing.)

I know the game WILL run on my laptop (and decently) because I used the benchmark program to test it.

Will the updates fix this? I'm gonna try renstalling anyway but...

Oh, and Tetra Master works fine on the PC (although I used it before I even installed FFXI, so I doubt that helps).

Thanks!

Greeting idiggory,

This happens when the icons get corrupted/confused and are showing up on programs they aren't normally supposed to be associated with.

You could reinstall, which should fix the disconnection, or another method is to copy the file to another location, remove the file from the original location, and then copy the copy back. Resetting files and icons like this will usually reconnect their associations.

If it's a shortcut, then its easy to go into the properties of that shortcut and alter the icon to whatever you wish to use.

Regards,
Berek
