I've been wanting to build a new system for myself and my girlfriend for a while now, but I've come to the realization that I just cannot afford it. What I could afford, is new video cards. My problem is that both of our computers are older-ish and have no PCI-E connections. They both have AGP 8X connections though.
My question is would I be better off with a PCI card or an AGP Card? Any cards that anyone has used and would recommend, I have always preferred nVidia, but it doesn't really make a difference if it's nVidia or Radeon.

How much cash do you have to spend?
Why not build said computer over time???
It seems like your pcs are still ok??
Also you dont have to build an entire new rig. You already have CD drives, hard drives, and a case. Why not just buy a new motherboard processor and graphics card, and power supply(if you need it).
If you upgrade just your graphics card on an old machine your pretty much just wasting cash. Its kind of like painting your car with flames and putting neon lights on it when it barely runs.
Post how much cash you got and what you wanna do. Im pretty sure we can build you a rig in your budget.
