Question about weather visuals:Follow

I recently got a new computer and did everything I could to max out the visuals since I knew my pc could handle it. I am running 2x background resolution oversampling and everything to the fullest. Everything looks beautiful and it runs just as smoothly to boot! However, the one thing I have noticed is that the sky shows this odd dotted-grid pattern. Of course I am not a huge fan of this unrealistic looking pattern. Also, from certain angles, character names and the icons next to them show a somewhat clear rectangular border. Finally, because my monitor is widescreen, character names and icons are a bit fattened (not the rest because I set the aspect ratio using config).
I truly appreciate any suggestions for getting the best out of FFXI visuals and all explanations and possible solutions for the minor maladies I have described!
