FFXI crashing please helpFollow

Ok so I know my comp is good enough to play FFXI no question, but when I try and log on before i get to the character select screen i crash. When using pure POL it gives me an error saying there was a problem starting diredt 3d please make sure your comp meets system req or someting like that before it even gets to the movie. With the windower i get to the movie and it crashes just a tiny way in or if i disable the movie i click that agree to tos box and i crash. Its a fresh install of POL and FFXI and afterwards i ran a complete file chect. Its been a long time scince i playes and i am just trying to log in after reactivating my account and I have already tried updating my drivers and directx and i cant think of anything else.

I am glad to see your issue resolved itself upon a reinstall. I often find that a fresh reinstall is sometimes necessary, as it can be difficult to pin down some of these problems.

To ensure this doesn't happen in the future, update all your drivers on the entire system, including DirectX and .NET support. Watch out for those programs running in the background that may also introduce instability. And don't let the hard drives get too crowded! If you are running out of space, clean them up a bit :).
