Yet another Vista problem.Follow

#1 May 29 2008 at 1:51 AM Rating: Decent
I bought a new computer at the weekend since my other one was having too many problems. So I've went from XP to Vista.

I've downloaded and installed the Vista version of PlayOnline, I know you need to go into the FF disc and install FF from the separate folders, but when I do that it's telling me I need to have PlayOnline installed.

Anyone know what the problem is? or would I be better off changing my OS back to XP?

Almost certainly.

How easy is it to go from vista back to XP?

im not all that savvy with the computers, but i have Vista preinstalled on my HP computer.

Could i just format the hard drive and boot it up with the XP disc in the drive? Is it that simple?

I hate surprises lol.

If you have an XP disk, it's pretty easy. If you have a "recovery disk" from another machine, it's borderline impossible unless you want to jump through a lot of hoops to convince the software it's running on the same machine. At which point you may as well just use a pirated copy.

basically my problem is this: i have vista, and 2 GB ram. would i get more of a performance by just getting another gig of ram or if i kept 2gb of ram and went back to XP?

Of course, RAM is cheap and doing both really isnt much of a stretch, i just wasnt sure if it was easy to put XP on. Id be getting a disk so i guess its a piece of cake.

When I installed FFXI on my Vista laptop, I downloaded and installed the vista version of POL, then just installed FFXI by disk normally, I did not have to go into the disk and find a seperate install.

I have the old FFXI + Rise of the Zilart version. POL is on a seperate disk, then there are 4 disks with FFXI on it.
