Basically FFXI crashes within a few seconds of selecting a character. The screen goes black a the typical 'Send report' message appears.

Computer specifications are as followed:

Processor - Q6600 2.4 Quad core.
RAM - 2GB OCZ Platinum.
Video card - Geforce 8800GTS 320MB
(Using latest drivers)
Running on Windows XP.

Just re-activated today, so, it's a bit annoying, no previous problems until today.

I know it's not much to go off, but, if you need anything more, let me know.

Graphics card drivers updated?

Isn't there a way to configure it so that you use the less graphically intensive character select screen too? Might try that.

I'm using the drivers which were released 4 days ago.

It crashes after the character section screen.

So, while, yes, I get to see Jueno for a few seconds, I soon black-out.

So, you just recently updated your video drivers, and now FFXI crashes when you try to play.

Best thing to do, revert back to your old driver.

Are you using the unofficial windower? If you are did you download the most recent version and most recent version of the plugins?

If you don't use the unofficial windower did you check your config options in Playonline config?

HAve you checked the Event Viewer yet to see if it's giving you any application errors which you can try to decipher on the cause of the issue?

The problem seems to have been fixed.
I reinstalled and spent a few hours patching, again.

Thank you for the help.

No idea what was causing it though, but, it seems that reinstalling helped.
