FFXI skipps?? :: World of Warcraft

Well i just bought a brand new desktop and installed ffxi on it. Go to play it and it seems about every1.5 secs there is a Hicup type skip that last only a brief moment stops then goes again in what seems to be a set interval. im running
MicrosoftÂ® Windows Vistaâ„¢ Home Premium
Version 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1
System Type x64-based PC
Intel(R)Core(TM)2Quad CPU Q6600@2.40ghz
Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB

with a NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT graphics card...what i dont get is my laptop which isnt nearly as good but also runs vista works just fine why cant it work on this one ; ; any help would be greatly appericated..

I know absolutely nothing about FFXI.

I'd guess it was video card drivers. This is a complete guess on my part.

Playonline.com has a list of Video Cards and Compatible drivers. It's most likely a driver issue.
